I know it sounds an oxymoron but still. In the lead up to and since Beth has been born I've been enjoying (?) alcohol free beer in the evenings.
However, just noticed on the outer of the 6 pack of Becks Blue it urges consumers to "enjoy Becks Blue responsibly"
Can anyone explain how one is supposed to enjoy something that has "no more than 0.05% abv" irresponsibly!?

I haven't had alcohol free beer since Kaliber (I think that's what it was - advertised by Billy Connolly) was doing the rounds in the early nineties.

If you drank enough it still made you fat and gave you all the joy of a hangover but without the sore head, dodgy guts only.

Can't imagine why it would say enjoy it responsibly?? Maybe they mean don't feed it to your kids?

While brew dog were doing their Nanny State 0.5% beer I enjoyed that but was a novelty limited run.
This http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/sainsburys ... er/133823/ is pretty good from sainsburys as a low alcohol 'adult' drink. Can't abide fizzy pop and there's only so much water-sparkling or otherwise you can consume!

We are given Becks blue at Christmas/new year offshore. Had a bottle new years day. Everything I have it I think what's the point? Lager without the alcohol is just wrong.

What they actually mean is enjoy it responsibly by not drinking it.

So we're saying the *only* reason to drink beer is that it intoxicates... Interesting

I will occasionally have a few bottles of zero alcohol stuff like the Becks blue (probably the most beer-like) if I'm out with mates and driving. Can't stand drinking coke all night. Would be nice if there was a zero alcohol beer-like-drink that didn't market itself as pretending to be normal beer. If I've got no reason to remain sober or able to drive a car, I'll have stuff with alcohol in it.

In answer to the OP question - I'll bet it's some regulation that because the drink has more than a trace amount of Alcohol (albeit tiny) then you legally have to whack that notice on it.

Only ever tried Non-Alcoholic beer once (2 bottles of Kaliber after my wedding as I was driving to Reading straight after the meal). Horrible stuff.

I've been alcohol-free for 4 years now. One of my first non-alcohol beers was unbelievably an Amstel in Amsterdam during French Frolic! I think they'd put something else in it though. I also quite like a Cobra Zero.

Lager can be quite refreshing and as others have said, there are only so many soft drinks you can take in a night. If you're driving, it can also avoid the 'tak a drink' comments.

Going to try the Cobra and Becks if they have it.

I'll keep an eye out for those brands ... I like a beer with my dinner from time to time, but would do no harm to have alcohol free stuff (not that I actually drink that much, unless I am visiting those "up north" ).
