I'm not particularly a fan of Seat but there's no argument that a Nordschleife lap in 7m58.4s in the new 276bhp Leon Cupra is might impressive and a new production Fwd record

 I'll take that as a compliment. Was an awesome trip that year and whilst I will probably NEVER do it again either I still fancy doing it on the bike again to improve my woeful times that I had from years ago. Probably never happen though.

Still I'm not down about it they are great memories and of the time. Things change and priorities change and that's just life, at least we have the memories to bore people who don't care with. :thumbsup

I think my first lap of the Ring ever was with Captain Kerb Hopper aka BIg D! What a lap! Hilarious! :thumbsup

Needless to say, and not for the first track that trip ( i was in the Atom) , I didnt use all his lines!!!!

As for Seat, grabbing the record with some currently unavailable upgrades is possibly stretching it a bit, but does anyone really care?

I dont see that many Seat buyers trying to match the factory pilots time at the Ring

Never been to the ring, except by Xbox.
P1's and 918's etc posting times I can understand.
Not sure what they're trying to prove with hot hatches etc. doubt it'll make much difference to their sales figures.

You say that but you should see the amount of hot hatches, special editions in the car park, overflow carpark, and field nearby, not too mention GT3's and other "ring focused" manufacturer products (i.e. not that modifed post factory) on trackdays or tourist days.

Car nuts with the Ring bug, Clarkson called it "Ringworm", buy these sorts of cars, and drive out especially for the days there. They want something that has made a headline at the Ring.

R26R being an obvious one, although Mass set his brakes alight at Outlon, so not sure what they would make of 8.26 worth of Ring flogging! :thumbsup

Big news in some parts, and ultimately worthy of PR which always helps sales in their target audience for this product.

Look at the amount of people with Ring stickers on their cars that havent even been on a ferry, let alone ripping down through Adenau :damnfunny

Why? The market is massive for hot hatches.
Where it all began before the Japs started bringing in rwd.

I'd be interested in another hot hatch.
My MK2 Focus RS was a fantastic car.
If Ford bring out a Mk3 Focus RS in 2015 I'll buy one....I'm even quite intrigued to see the Fiesta RS if released.

I've got an M25 ring sticker somewhere.. :)

Thought it was hilarious at the time, but never made it onto a car.

Would the fact that one car is five or ten seconds faster round the ring than another make a difference to your purchasing decision?

No but all the extra publicity makes you more likely to consider it.
