Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent hotel in Amsterdam ??

The place we stayed during Frolic in 2012 is fully booked after Spazz so looking for any recommendations for a couple of nights as central as possible from the 24th to 26th June

Ideally with some car parking

Cheers

Benny

We've stayed in Rembrandtplein, few hotels and plenty going on,not too far to window shopping area.Secure underground parking over the "blue bridge" under the Stopera.Should be able to research from Google earth as can't remember the name of the hotel we used but parking was fine for our bikes, barrier entry/exit and cameras.

Bit more left-field, but stayed at the Amstel Botel recently- floating hotel on the opposite bank of the river, 10 minutes on a free ferry from the city centre. Plus points: dirt cheap, regular ferry to the central station 24/7, laid back staff, interesting boats moored round about- lightships, tall ships, soviet sub etc, lots of parking, good bars/restaurants nearby.
General area is under still under redevelopment- used to be the shipyards, but seemed quiet and trouble-free. Some lovely classic cars and boats kicking about. Was nice to see somewhere outwith the usual centre spots.
Minus points: Rooms are pretty basic- felt like the sort of place you'd stay on a school trip. It looks like a prison ship too. Ferry ride to the town might seem a PITA, but we really enjoyed it.
Bit different, certainly not posh, but had character. Walls are mostly wipe-clean if the usual suspects are in tow.

The kids are all off to Amsterdam soon,if mid 20's are still kids!!,and tell me there are a few floating hotels now from their research.Fancied the idea but as said looked a touch basic if you were going to be spending any time there.....doubtful on a "lads weekend"
Re. the "wipe clean" walls Bert, think a lot of Amsterdam is like that, they must use a helluva Wet Wall over there :D

I have stayed here: www.canalhouse.nl , very good. Parking might be a bit more difficult.
