An e-petition worth your consideration

Cross posted from SELOC, know nothing about it but it annoys me that people move in aware of the surroundings and then mount a campaign to change what was there.

Signed as I think it's ridiculous that others be held accountable for people clearly not doing their research before buying a house, but is there any evidence that these e-petitions actually get any attention?

On the other side of the coin, I remember watching the end of a TV show recently about planning permissions where an illegal car wash opened up on a busy road, but in a nice and previously fairly quiet village.
The residents complained and it went to the planning court.
The permission was granted as the panel decided that some noise, from 8am to 6pm of compressors and hoses, everyday, which wakes people up in the morning, preventing people from enjoying their houses and gardens, and presumably effecting house values (or at least putting off potential buyers) all from a business set up without planning permission set up on land not used previously for commercial purposes, was less important than keeping people in jobs so the permission was granted.
It's all a joke.
