Ride on Mower help - NLC

I've this ride on mower I bought last year.
Worked fine, no problems. Tail end of last year it need a new 'solenoid'.
Fired it up last week, no problems.
Yesterday, just turns over....even removed the key and the thing was still trying to turn over until it died - guessing flat battery.
Any help? Better still, anyone in Aberdeen able to swing round mine and work some magic? ££
Pain in the arse to get it to a local repairer.
TIA
G

Not much help Im afraid but If its like my mower, when you removed the key did the oil/ignition light stay on?
Ssounds like the starter relay againor perhaps the switch barrel. Assuming the barrel switch has failed then it may explain why it wouldnt start.
Easy enough to diagnose with a multimeter if you can access the wiring at the rear of the switch/starter solenoid.

How old is the mower?
Did you use a trickle charger over winter?
The fact that it is turning over would suggest that all switches, solnoid etc is working. I would suggest that the battery hasn't enough charge to turn it over fast enough to start.
If it has enough charge then it will probable be the fuel system including the choke switch
The reason I asked about the trickle charge is that I used my lotus one on mine a few years ago, it knacked the battery, it appeared to be working, turning over engine but it couldn't retain the charge.

Not been on a trickle but was working fine last Sunday.
Totally dead now. Stuck on my trickle charger but all it seemed to do was heat up the battery.
Think I'm gonna have to get it to a shop.

Got the new battery today....but as soon as I connect the positive the lawn mower tries to fire up...even without key in the ignition.
A short? New solenoid required even although it's brand new?

This may not help for a Ride On Mower but I use this chap for a petrol mower:
http://www.hughshandymanservice.co.uk/
He will pickup , fix and deliver back again.
Was only £20 too per device.

Craig,
Free tomorrow?
Although, sneaky suspicion it might be a solenoid.
