Great day, NIP and Court date.

Post by tut » Sat Jun 28, 2014 3:09 pm

Just received one for 89mph on the A11 at 1441 on the 21st at Besthorpe, Norfolk.
As I never lead a group I expect that others will receive the same.

Court date for the 109mph is July 22nd in Oban.

The one on the A11 must have been the van on the bridge when you were going for fuel because we were on track at Hethel then.

Just checked the map and looks as if you are correct. I saw the van and looked at the speedo and thought fine as it was on 80, so no more than 78 corrected, but looks as if I read it wrong. As 80 is a vertical needle not sure how I managed that though.

Just going to ignore it for now, as the 28 days for a reply will be after the Court hearing after which I will not have a licence anyway, otherwise Spike Marie would have to have been resurrected from the grave again.

At least I got Spazz in and was prepared to tell them to go and fcuk themselves if the hanging date had been before then, as this happened in April. I will of course be pleading guilty as charged m'Lord, but will post up a copy of the letter that I am allowed to send in to explain why I was such a naughty boy. It will be a classic, but probably make no difference, though I am not going down without a fight.

ps:- anybody know what happens to existing points on your licence when you get a ban for speeding? Are they still there when you get your licence back, or do you start from zero? You would have to if it was a topping up series above 12 points or it would make no sense.

Are you the only person who can lose a car, a daughter, a house, and a license, all in the space of just a few months?! Keep on fighting, old fella.

Sorry to hear your latest news.

All my own fault Campbell, the brain seems to go into neutral at times, more and more mistakes and forgetfulness creeping in, backed up by recurring dreams of losing my bum bag, phone, money, CC, staying in a different hotel than everybody else, not being able to find it, not being able to phone everybody, and then not remembering where I had parked the car.

Tis actually a relief to get on Circuit and drive around in circles as fast as I can, then get back to the hotel, sit down, talk rubbish with great friends, drink way too much, but still be one of the last out of the bar, then first up in the morning to pack the car, set up the SatNav, and have breakfast all ready to take off.

At least I had a great day at Spa this time with a dry track, flat through Au Rouge then 145 at the end of the straight with the car still feeling planted. However enjoyed Zolder and Cadwell more, not into straight line speed and had a scary at Hethel, braked at the end of a straight into a 90 right hander and the pedal went to the floor. Just time for a quick pump which gave me 1" and managed to get around without going off, but no explanation on why it had happened. Already had lots of laps in, went and refuelled, back out again, so the car was in ideal conditions. Never happened again, but it is in the back of your mind.

Sorry to hear all this Tut ... I don't know what happens to points on your license that come through after a ban. If you really are sure you will be banned, I am guessing that you're better off taking the 3 points for the A11 now as I would hope they will be wiped off your license along with all the others when you receive your ban.

Cheers,
Robin

P.S. Didn't you tell me you had mislaid your license? Might be best to get a replacement sent to you now in case you don't find it in time for the court case where they will need you to hand over your license. Just mentioning this as I know some track days require you to present a copy of your license.

No licence lost Robin, sent it in for the first three when I picked the car up, then received it back. Will just leave that one until after the court case, not sure how they can put points on a licence that you do not have, but of course the offence would have been before the Court hearing.

Que sera sera......

Tut, you don't do things by half !!
I think (but not sure) that your licence comes back clean after a ban. :thumbsup
I guess it's pretty much a stick on that you'll get a ban, but watch any mitigation plea as it might work against you longer term and they might hit you with a re- test before you get your licence back. Good luck - fingers crossed for you :?

Hi Tut your licence comes back clean, I lost mine back in 2000, had 6 point then caught at an alleged 107.5 average over 7 miles on the M74 Dumfries area, I got a 1 year ban and reasonably sized fine  I think the licence showed a ban but previous points were not on it.

What cheesed me off was a ban is like cutting a drivers legs off.
A mate of mine when I worked the doors was killed as a result of a fight he was trying to get away from, the guy responsible for the death of a 21 year old was given a prison sentence of 18 months, he was out in 9! How does that work? My sentence/ban for a driving offence on an empty motorway had to be served in full! The justice system in this country is a joke, I needed my car for work but that made no difference!

Feel for you Tut!

Cheers

Not worried about a re-test if it cuts the sentence short, and 109 in a 60 is a level above Marks 107 in a 70.
