Realistically it'll be for around 3-5k miles per year at most.. so may as well take advantage of that and get something where MPG is not a factor like it usually is.

The days of big NA V8s etc are gone it seems so also keen to have one before they get too old too.

£30k seems to buy a lot of RS5 too.

Dave,

I suspect the RS5 is pretty similar from a spec perspective as the RS4. Therefore the desirable options to get on the RS5 would be:

- V-Spoke alloys - rather than the Rotors which a lot of cars came with
- Nappa Leather - some standard spec'd cars came with suede/leather which although is better for holding you in it appears to hurt residuals, Front buckets (or wingbacks) are pretty rare but can easily be identified by the gaps beside the headrest
- Sports Pack - this gives you the sports suspension with DRC, 20" alloy wheels, sports exhaust and dynamic steering
- B & O stereo

Other options such as Driver Assistance Package are a bonus. Forget advanced key as that just allows your car to be stolen easier.

The ideal utopia of an RS5 would be the Sports Pack options minus the dynamic steering. Its the one thing that I do not like about the RS4 as it robs a lot of feel from the car. On the negatives the car interface is rubbish compared to the BMW's and our 335D had a lot more neater options compared to the Audi. However you are paying for the engine rather than the nicer place to be.

Also make sure the gearbox oils have been religiously done otherwise big bills loom. The DRC's are know to be problematic as well so that is another thing to look out for. Its not unknown in the forums to hear of bills of £15k+ for gearbox replacement and £2k+ for DRC issues.

As we bought from Audi we got a warranty but we have now extended it as we have had the car for over a year now. Due to Sandra's low mileage (5-7k pa) we specified it under 10k p.a. and it is something like £700 for the year with a £250 excess per claim.

Good thing is that it appears our RS4 is holding it's value reasonably well which is a bonus.
