Yes though never on that canal - we've been on a fair few canal holidays elsewhere in England - is it boating question or specifically that canal you want to know about?

Glasgow to Edinburgh on the canal is pretty dull. Precious little to see, no pubs and pikees fishing for brown trout while drinking The Monks brew.....

Did it for charity was more bored than tired.

Head south where you can make a pub crawl out of it

If you go to on the Trent & Mersey canal you can use the Anderton boat lift (spectacular piece of engineering) to drop down into Northwich and you can see what's left of the sunken smell-o-tel from the river :-)

I agree that the Edinburgh - Glasgow run might be quite bleak, though there are definitely some pubs in the Falkirk - Edinburgh stretch I don't know how much mooring there is. We like the odd canal holiday but have never been tempted to do that stretch.

Cheers,
Robin

There are quite a few pubs between Falkirk and Glasgow. :thumbsup Some parts are quite nice, other parts less so,... a bit like any canal i guess.

Linlithgow has moorings and plenty pubs and restaurants to choose from.
