2 eleven Values
2 eleven Values
Good morning,
As per the title, what are thoughts on where 2 eleven values will go in the future? The appear to have bottomed out at the moment, given the way 340r values have gone in recent years does anyone believe the same fate awaits the 2 eleven given their limited availability?
All the key ingredients seem to be in place to give it future classic status.
Regards,
Jeremy

Yes, they are only going to go one way I reckon - up. Rarity is the key factor. Your post had me looking at 2-Elevens on PH
Much as I like the idea, the lack of any weather protection means I probably just wouldn't use one enough.
Got me thinking though - wouldn't a 2-Eleven type car based on the V6 Exige be pretty mega?

Re: 2 eleven Values
You mean a 3-11? It wouldn't surprise me if we see something like that coming out of the factory before too long

Re: 2 eleven Values
Hope so, but they seem to have been struggling to get anything new out the door since the Bahar shenanigans. By any standards the Elise is ancient now, the Evora must be due a mid life nip and tuck, and still no sign of a convertible Evoraneil wrote:You mean a 3-11? Re: 2 eleven Values
I really need an Evora convertible created now so in 7 years they will be similar priced to a s2 Elise.ryallm wrote:Hope so, but they seem to have been struggling to get anything new out the door since the Bahar shenanigans. Hopefully they are beavering away behind the scenes and will surprise us all soon

Read on a Lotus focused forum it would be difficult to do, not sure if it is because the roof is structural or because in the Evora competitor market the roof should a nice automatic one.
Re: 2 eleven Values
I'd think it was a case of where do you put the roof? Not really appropriate to have a camping-derived arrangement like the Elise in a car in that market segment, and the engine is crammed in pretty high up in the bay. At best, it'd be a targa.IanD wrote:I really need an Evora convertible created now so in 7 years they will be similar priced to a s2 Elise.ryallm wrote:Hope so, but they seem to have been struggling to get anything new out the door since the Bahar shenanigans. Re: 2 eleven Values
But the Evora has a good chunk of space behind the seats. Sacrificing the tiny rear seats or parcel shelf thing wouldn't be an issue in this market segment IMO. Keep it simple with lightweight removable panel that is simply lifted off and fitted snuggly in there.Given production numbers vs. development costs plus the addition in weight, I doubt an automated "push of a button" arrangement would ever be seen..Shug wrote:

S'pose it would fold into the space where the rear seats are - making the car purely a two seater roadster. Quite how it would easily fold into that space.. I'm not sure.Shug wrote:I'd think it was a case of where do you put the roof? Re: 2 eleven Values
Evora roof can't be structural. The interior light shines through to the outside when it's dark!

Re: 2 eleven Values
Maybe not just chassis torsional / bending resistance, as the Evora chassis is very strong apparently, but probably has roll over protection running along the top of the door frame. This will support the windscreen in the event of the car rolling onto its roof. Perhaps without this (as in a proper targa configuration), the windscreen would not be able to pass the roll-over safety tests, meaning a re-design. The Elise chassis / windscreen support is obviously designed like this from the start. Not sure of the Evora is..

Re: 2 eleven Values
The Elise windscreen isn't rollover protection - it's just fibreglass. The Elise chassis passes regs due to the tubular steel roll bar behind the seats. If you see any Elise that's been rolled, you can see the windscreen will have folded. It's even been known for windscreens to crack with people swinging off the surround to support themselves into the seat...
