We set off early tomorrow.

Am awaiting Walk Highlands first post approval, before this same post can be seen there.

As I type it's still not up, so till then, which could well be after we leave tomorrow morning, it's a long shot here.

***

Me and my 15 year old daughter are spending 10 days on Skye. Over previous holidays on the West Coast, we've done the Fort William to Kinlochleven walk several times now, in our stride - part of the West Highland Way. So she's no stranger to several hours of hill walking. Also, over the years, plenty of walks from Oban down to Campbeltown. Not exactly particularly taxing, but no stranger to being out in all weathers.

Anyway, Walk Highlands only give Fort William to Kinlochleven a Grade 2 ascent, so I'm looking for anyone who can advise of Walk Highlands Grade 3's and 4's. I'm presuming it's down to how much scrambling - hands or hands free, how steep any screes are and the difficulty navigating any crags along the way.

Has anyone done any of these listed walks below? And can comment of them too? Also, how do you find Walk Highlands Grade 3's and 4's walks/ascents?

Having not done any of the Skye walks yet, for my daughter, it would be useful to have an idea on what to expect in relation to the grading system. Don't want to plan things, only to of overreached.

They are:

(These aren't classed as rock climbs - so can be done on foot, but there's still a couple on Munros here)

The Storr & Old Man of Storr Circuit - On the Trotternish Ridge. Walk Highlands Grade 3 ascent.

Quiraing Circuit - On the Trotternish Ridge. Walk Highlands Grade 3 ascent.

Sgurr a Mhadaidh Ruadh - On the Trotternish Ridge. Walk Highlands Grade 3 ascent.
http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/maps/map1_22sk.shtml

Sligachan to Marsco - In the Red Hills. Walk Highlands Grade 4 ascent.
http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/maps/map4_6sk.shtml

Has anyone done the Sligachan to the peaks directly above Loch Corusik. (In the Red Hills) Not down to the Loch, but high above it. Really fancy a route for this, but it looks like a long hike there and back.

Garbh Bheinn & Belig - In the Red Hills. Walk Highlands Grade 4 ascent.

Sgurr na Banchdich - In the Black Cuillins. Walk Highlands Grade 4 ascent.
http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/maps/map3_7sk.shtml

Am also considering

Bla Bheinn - In the Red Hills. Walk Highlands Grade 4 ascent.

Bruch na Frithe - In the Black Cuillins. Walk Highlands Grade 4 ascent.

Many Thanks.

I have only done the Bla Bheinn route of those listed and that was a while ago. Did it on a fine dry day. Not difficult and if I remember correctly only one or two bits of hands on rock with no or v little exposure. The walk along the ridge to the top (not that narrow) has big drop offs over the other side but its a gentle slope on the side you climb up.

Anyway - my 5 year old Labrador made it with only a couple of helping hands required for the hands / paws on rocks bits.

We've walked the Quiraing and Storr with our kids around age 7 and 5 IIRC. Storr was a bit of a slog for them, but Quiraing is a total playground - have fun!

Just seen your posts here and on wh.
You should be fine with all of them, all can be done with ease, Frithe has a scrambly ridge that you can go up, the crest is fine though. Failing that stick to the route through the corrie. There is scree on all the munros in skye but it should be ok.
If you fancy more advanced stuff I can recommend Matt at skye adventure.

Gabro is uber grippy even in the wet but basalt is like ice so take care. It all eats kit sadly. Workies gloves are the business to protect your hands if you do go for a scramble. Lastly, I take it you know your compass will be wrong in the cuillin.

Hope you have fun!
