Bit of gaffa tape and good as new. Not quite the same with the body.

Takes skill to crash that badly.

Good thing is that they gave you another one and you carried on.
Managed two more after that, but that took another ten years. Had a protected no claims bonus though.

Sounds like my Grandfather - he ditched two Spitfires into the sea, managed it on the same day, all before lunch time. His old flight books/ records made fascinating reading. He must have mastered crashing, given the number that he had and walked away from.

Would loved to have been a Spit pilot but they would not take me at five.

Did he get any kills? Would love to read his Logbooks if I got the chance.

I just wondered if you were neck deep in the field and the helmet was still on?

nah, they took me away in a stretcher attached to the side of a Sioux, (same as in M*A*S*H) and I woke up in Hospital with no idea of what had happened. I had only got married the month before, and when Pam came to visit me I did not know who she was.

Fortunately it was only short term memory loss, and as you all know I recovered it completely, and was back on the same Course one month later.

1 Careful owner, slight parking ding...
Fair play for carrying on after that, would have put most folk off these days i'm sure!
