S2 heater temp.

Post by tut » Thu Nov 27, 2014 9:46 am

I have heard before that the S2 heater is not as good as the S1, and that is certainly the case with mine. I used to really feel it in N3 with the top down on a cold day, but in the new car both the temp and volume of air is quite a bit lower, and nothing at all seems to come out of the windscreen vents.

Any way of checking if it is working properly or increasing the temp?

Tut,

Exige has Heated seats, great on a cold day with the roof off. Nothing beats roasted nuts on a long cold run.

Heater same as S2, a bit "iffy" with the roof off.

I can't make a comparison to the S1 but the heater in my s2 isn't great for a soft top car. I've now switched back to the hard top for winter and what a difference heating wise with the extra insulation above. The guy I bought the car from said a hard top was essential for winter, seems he was correct!

Tut

It's OK for clearing the screen but that's about all as far as I'm concerned.

Doesn't really keep the car that warn with the soft top on, let alone off.

No excuse for not being able to fit a decent heater.

I remember reading they fitted the largest they could to the S1; it uses the matrix (IIRC) from a London taxi. The heater in mine isn't as great since it had the PRRT fitted, but the S2 I had for a few weeks had an awful heater.

Think it's safe to say if topless winter driving is your thing then an Elise probably shouldn't be at the top of your list. My mates Z4 with its blow torch heater vents and burn your arse sports seats is on the other hand a different story. I'd Still choose the Elise every time though

Fixed that for you - my old S1 would burn the hairs off my legs before I added a lower temp PRT stat in the chase for reliable power

Mine has a PRT on it, probably an 82 or 84.
