The car came with a set of 18" CSL type alloys, im looking to put a set of winters on the 18" and then buy another set of 19" for next summer.

Any recommendations on winter tyres for my car?

Thanks
Scotty

Nokian or Michelin Alpin seem to be the 2 that I hear positive feedback about the most. I've only ever tried the Nokian myself so can't comment on the Michelins from first hand experience, but the Nokians are brilliant. Those in Finland do know a thing or two about snow and ice. I ran them on an old E38 7 Series and it could literally go anywhere in winter as long as it had the ground clearance.

I suppose it comes down to what kind of deals are out there for the sizes that you require.

Regards,

Jeremy

Dunlop 3D seem to be a favourite with BMW's. I change to these on the S4 this year on the basis they were a bit more of an all round winter tyre compared to my previous wintertrac extremes (excellent, but started to lose lateral grip with wear).

Typical VX owner cheapskae response :P .....

Nankang Snow SV-2 - big difference on my car from the rubbish summers when I bought the car.

55quid for 2 x 17"

(edit: these are not on the VX!)

Nankangs.

And I'm very fond of that 55-page encyclopaedic thread :-)
