So when did Lotus Excel's start getting so expensive? Last time I looked the prices were hovering around Elan M100 money at anything from £2-5k.
Admit that its low mileage but £14k

Dont think its reflective of the usual market and extremely hopeful, even more so given that its for an early non SE version
It only takes one buyer though
Although they handle well theyre not very quick, and the really dated interior in that one doesnt do it any favours.

And it says Éclat on the back. I think it is an Éclat, but the Excel and Éclat always did confuse.
Jim Stevenson of Inverurie used to sell these. I well remember being stunned by them in the showroom when in to pick-up dads next Cortina - the tyres were huge. I don't remember the interior looking anything like that! It's ok on the outside but the inside looks remarkably out of date.

I think it went from the Elite and Eclat (seperate models) to the Eclat Excel to the Excel, with each version replacing the former. I thought all versions before the Excel had 2.0 engines but perhaps not.
The true Excel was from 84 with the 2.2 + had the modified interior and dash which was much inproved over the 1970s pimp fest in that one.

It was definitely £14k when George linked it originally. Obviously had a sense check and revised it to a more sensible price.
