Why do the simplest of jobs...

...take so fcuk long and end in disaster

I got some new plates for the Exige and done the DVLA tax change etc. so thought I'd better fit them when I got home. It was dark and wet and I couldn't use the garage as my (George's) 111s is in there...argh, it's your fault George  Anyway, drove the car up to the garage door to get some light to do the front.

The front plate was squint when I bought the car and it's always annoyed me. Removed it to find about 5kgs of sticky residue behind it! Couldn't be arsed to clean it off due to the conditions but thought, nope, do it right - it took about 40 mins to get the bloody stuff off! Then got my proper sticky-back-foam-number-plate stuff I'd bought for the job and lay in the wet drive to make sure I didn't put it on squint. Lined it up, step back to look at it - perfect!

Thought thank god for that, at least the rear will be quicker. I couldn't see at the rear of the car so decided to reverse back up the drive to get some light from the garage. Jumped in the car and started reversing out on to the road to turn it around. There is a small drop onto the road but normally, if taken slowly then nothing scrapes...crunch...I'd put the plate on too low. Get out the car to see the plate lying on the driveway, take a mini tantrum and then throw it into the field before going into the house in the huff...then returned 5mins later to get it out the field.

I have no tape left.

Almost an hour of wasted time...for bloody number plates…arghh!!!

ha ha

You must have looked like Ford Kiernan in Chewin the Fat

my week :

leak under sink - remove old plug and pipe - slit top of finger on plug hole (alu) whilst cleaning prior to refit (f*ck), blood everywhere, gauze/plaster, refit plumbing - dodgy goo all over gauze dressing (smelly green stuff) - refitted plumbing leaks, try again - all ok, but bit where new plumbing fits to drain is a previous owners botch job and now leaks ...

Aaarrrggghhh

I HATE DIY

We are having new windows put in the house and the gaffer is admiring the car - actually asks me to take him out before I offer!! So I take him for a blat down a favourite road and on the way back pull into someone's drive to let him bring it back down the M Way and crunch. Front clam grounds on the steeply sloping drive I've picked to do a U-ey in. Both sides of the front splitter, it has ground right through them..

150ukp at the friendly local bodyshop (see posts passim). The window gaffer chap was so nice he offered me 50 quid this morning (this all happened yesterday) as he felt guilty - not his fault at all, I was driving..

And the last three days I've been laying insulation (and fitting lights and flooring) in the loft. Which is a sh*t way to spend your time and one of the reasons I ws so keen to take the car for a blat in the first place.

How about glossing sash windows, that was my job today, and I managed to fall with the ladder and break 3 floor tiles. So now they need to be chipped out and replaced. I don't think I'll ever get this bathroom finished
