The Debate
The Debate
Anybody watching it?
Quite looking forward to it, just hope that there is some action on the free for all. Opinion is that Nicola Sturgeon will do well, and Nige should hold his own.

Re: The Debate
Putting the politics aside... watching Ed Miliband on tv is like watching a slow-motion car crash.
So far, I am impressed by Nicola Sturgeon (never thought I would say that) ... hope she gets the chance to say more

Re: The Debate
Green Party is doing well, succinct and to the point.
The whole thing is immaterial, we have a massive debt problem and that is going to persist no matter who gets in. Playing around with millions when it needs to be tens of billions is pointless. The only way around it is to get a much greater influx of income, in the short term the only way to achieve that is to increase taxes so that the whole Country pays in. That is the death knell for any Party, so will just not happen.

Re: The Debate
That's interesting, she triggers a tourettes condition I was unaware I had until now, whenever she appears and starts talking pish delivered in her weird head-nod punctuation manner I find myself screaming "F*CK OFF!" at the telly. Weird eh?renmure wrote:So far, I am impressed by Nicola Sturgeon (never thought I would say that) ... hope she gets the chance to say more

Her politics are at 180 degrees to mine... left-wing and Nationalist, but she comes across as having some conviction and she says things which make me stop and have a think. I think Cameron also has the same conviction (I would say that, wouldn't I) but I can't take Miliband or Farage seriously.
I feel a wee bit sorry for Clegg. The Lib-Dems stepped up to the plate 5 years ago, they probably did their best, and they are going to get hammered for it at the Polls. It's probably easy to be a politician and promise the earth to everyone, safe in the knowledge you will never have to deliver.

Re: The Debate
Farage is the most gormless looking twat I have ever seen and seems to have a worrying amount of support.
Milliband looks like a real life Spitting Image puppet
Sturgeon looks like a Thunderbirds puppet
None of them are changing my voting intentions. its a long time until 7th May........

Re: The Debate
Love him or hate him, Farage doesn't seem to be doing to badly, the others are trying the usual spin sh*t and trying to paint him as a racist relic of the past but if you actually listen to his points there are a few things you can't disagree with, as conceded tonight by some of the others on the debate.
Re: The Debate
Agreed, but he (and his "party") are a one trick pony. They have probably been a fairly effective pressure group on immigration and the EU and will influence policy across the board which is no bad thing, but they do come across as BNP-lite at times.kenny wrote:Love him or hate him, Farage doesn't seem to be doing to badly, the others are trying the usual spin sh*t and trying to paint him as a racist relic of the past but if you actually listen to his points there are a few things you can't disagree with, as conceded tonight by some of the others on the debate.
