Go Pros....
Go Pros....
What's the current thinking on the best Go Pro for occasional track day, cycling, motorbiking and road trip fun? Thinking a mix of videos and timelapse type stuff.
Don't have one and figure I should and since I'm about to do a roadtrip down the Pacific Coast Highway via Big Sur and then off to Frolic later this year, it seems like an opportune time.
Hero 4 Silver? Can't see why I'd need the very best one.
Best place to buy these days?
Cheers!
Dave.

Re: Go Pros....
I've a hero 3 black does everything I need. Full 1080p at 60fps 4k at 30. Takes great vids. Used it for mountain bike footage and reef snorkelling. Takes great still too. Does various timelapse and up to 120fps I think in lower res. Remote handy if mounted externally. 4 was smaller I think and better case.
One complaint is the 3 chews through batteries some spares are handy (and pricy 60bucks!)

I have a 4 black, can't fault it really. Haven't tried any others bar the original HD Hero, which to be honest is still pretty decent.

I picked up a couple of Sendy GoPro 3 batteries for £20 (complete with external charger) - Have been using them for about 18 months, and they're as good as OEM.rawsco wrote:One complaint is the 3 chews through batteries some spares are handy (and pricy 60bucks!)
I believe the Wasabi ones are similar - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wasabi-Power-AH ... 040&sr=8-1
Re: Go Pros....
The cheapest one can be had for £94 off Amazon and is easily good enough for your needs. all of the higher spec settings on the better cameras just eat memory, and when you upload it to the Internet t gets compressed anyway.
Re: Go Pros....
What Ape said. The entry level GoPro is where their top end product was this time 1.5 years ago and TV were using them for broadcast then.

Re: Go Pros....
I have the £94 GoPro, used for the odd trackday and is completely acceptable for my needs
The only downside is the non removable battery. However, I figured that in a couple of years when it no longer holds a good charge you'll be able to get a new entry level one for the same cost as a battery

Cheers folks
Will investigate the cheapest one. Only looked at the silver and black when I saw they were the only ones that for time-lapse video.
Trying to avoid over speccing for the first time ever given I apparently 'need' £250 headphones for the flight and a bunch of other tech for the holiday already!!

Nice one.
We have an office in a place called Sunnyvale just outside of San Jose. I will be in the area 20 - 25 June. Out on BA to SFO on the 20th. Have been going there for work on and off for the past 20 years. If you want some local knowledge let me know...
