Headphone Recommendations

Following on from the satnav thread can anyone recommend a decent set of headphones to wear in the Elise?
Driving to London for the Washy day in Aug and don't fancy it without music!
I'm guessing in-ear is best and noise cancelling a requirement.
A mic would be a bonus although not expecting it to work roof off on the M1.
Cheers, Mark

I've a set of sure se215 in ear. Sound quality is supremely good and noise isolation is passive and is better than the Bose active cans. They'd be perfect the sit rock solid in your ears and have replaceable cable. About 100quid IIRC. I think there is a version with a mic too.
They are the only headphones I've managed to keep on for an entire 7 hour flight I traveled on regularly so very comfy too.

There are loads of good headphones out there, but for use while driving i always recommend the latest Sennheiser CX300 (they're called CX 300-II Precision currently). Sound quality is pretty good, but unlike most headphones they have an asymmetric cable.
With ordinary ones you generally need to have the cable from the ipod/phone going up in front of you and the player has to be there too, this could cause you problems in an emergency situation.
With the CX300, the cables can be behind your back (and so can the player if required) in the Caterham i put a baby iPod in the handbrake well and the cables around my back. In an Elise it could even be in the net between the sets if required.
Much less of a distraction if sudden manoeuvres are required and safer because of it.
They're also cheap enough to be almost disposable ( i bust one set because they got tangled up in my belts when i forgot to take them off before undoing the full harness in the Caterham) - currently on Amazon at near enough half price.

There are fakes out there, so i'd buy from one of the more reputable sites if possible.

Another vote for Sennheisers here too. I'm on my 3rd set, a pair of MM50i's, which are essentially CX300s for an iPhone. This means built in mic and a single button on the cable to answer/end calls and pause any audio stream.
Tried and tested in an S1 over many years, as well as on planes and trains and near screaming children. So comfy I generally forget I'm wearing them.
Others are very keen on Shure equivalents which are also worth a look.
I'm about to buy some Sennheisers for the kids for their hols too.

I liked sennheiser too.
I have broken/lost a couple of sets but recently picked up
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-In-E ... B003WV39B6 for 40 euro at schiphol. They're pretty good and much better than boggo apple at noise cancelling. An absolute god-send on my last flight home with lots of screaming kids!
Only annoying thing is that these ones didnt come with a case but I still have my old case.

Would echo Shure comments - although avoid the entry level ones (115s I think). Shure's cable management is a helluva lot better than a Sennheiser lopsided cable - they are designed to run the cables over the top of your ears, round the back of your head and actually have a toggle to snug them up to the nape of your neck. Never had something as secure feeling in the car as a set of Shures. This isn't even a sales message as we (AMP3) don't do them any more!
As you go higher up the price range, the cables are replaceable too - IMO a better option than an essentially disposable headphone. Noise isolation is also in a different league if you use the included foam earpieces (downside being you need to scrunch them up like earplugs to fit, so slightly more faff than the rubber buds)
Depends what you want to spend and your expectation of sound quality, of course.

Here are the Shure ones in my big flappy lugs... Can easily run the cable down your back for safety.
