Top Gear - New/Last Series

Post by douglasgdmw » Sun Jun 28, 2015 1:55 pm

Spotted Top Gear is on BBC2 tonight (28th June) at the normal time of 20:00.

Presume its the last couple of episodes before Jeremy's demise.

Think is is the part recorded last episodes of the pulled programmes featuring Jezza with some ' finishing off' links from Hammond and May.
It series links to a 'Best of series 22' next Sunday night.

Well Team Ford enjoyed the shards from the cutting room floor.

Big question is, did Jezza have his meltdown the night of the 4x4 race? It was certainly in Yorkshire. And given the tribulations, I think I'd have been grumpy to get back to my hotel to find no dinner on offer, too...

After seeing the episode last night it all felt a little bit flat without Jezza, probably not helped by the "sombre" presenting by Captain Slow and Hamster between the various segments.

If I was the BBC, I probably would not have bothered airing the final episodes as not exactly a fantastic epitaph for the final "original presenters".

Was wondering the same - Jezza was heard muttering from behind his Frontera "I hate working on Top Gear".... thought seemed quite apt / ironic.

His final words on the show "thank you god, thank you Vauxhall", again a bit of irony given his dislike of most Vauxhall products.

The classic car part was weak, the budget 4x4s was very amusing. Not the end of TG, just the end of it with those presenters. Does seem a little sad, but the format was tiring, and I look forward to seeing how TG evolves and what Clarkson Hammond & May get up to elsewhere.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Hammond and May seemed to be doing the presentation under orders, yes we'll do it if we have too.............but we'll wear what we like (May's jacket), grow some amusing whiskers and we don't have to be happy about it.

I actually thought it wasn't too bad an ending. Usual slapstick stuff, but should have ended with the Butch Cassidy sketch

I was laughing at the classic car piece ( ) and was enjoying Jezza enjoying the improved 124.

The 4x4 piece was pants and I think this was what finished Jezza :tired

Interesting speculation on a further new co-presenter...

She would be ideal for the job as she has the knowledge and certainly the "charisma".

Her pictures before she was well really known are certainly appealing. Probably one of my favourite pictures of her:

Had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of times when attending a couple of European rounds of the WSB and always nice to chat to :D

So they're going to be on Amazon Prime.

Wonder what the numbers are; can't imagine May and Hammond being paid significantly less than Jezza from now on.

Jenson Button has been linked with a presenters spot as well. So Evans, Button and Perry not a bad line up if it happens.
