Oh ye of little faith.....

Robin and Craig lifted our new Jacuzzi/Whirlpool bath from the garage to the bathroom on Sunday. Every body told me to get in a plumber, £80 call out fee and £40/hr plus an electrician at the same rates.

Two connectors at £4 and two hours later, job done. Christened it together and no leaks. Glass of wine and listen to the built in music. However 2mm wider and it would not have fitted.

Show us the pictures of the bucket chain that you made them form to fill it...

And what an image of the three of you in the bath together!

If you recall I did not say that you wouldn't make it work ... I said you wouldn't make it work safely ... did you change the euro plug for a UK plug? where is that plugged in? do you have some form of RCD attached to that cable at some point in the wiring of your house? There is lots of exposed metal work - is that earthed, and if so how is the earthing achieved (via the plumbing or via the mains wiring)? Do you have an isolation switch so that you can turn off the jacuzzi remotely if required? There are probably other safety considerations also.

I don't know anything about what's actually required to do this properly, but I do know that whenever you see an electric shower in a bathroom, the electrics for it are always "special" - like there's a cooker style isolation switch, etc.

Cheers,
Robin

I was actually referring to the rest of the family Robin, I know you have the utmost confidence in my DIY abilities. It is not fully wired in yet, we are making alterations to the kitchen so the fitter, plumber and electrician are coming over this morning to measure up, and they can check the plumbing of the bath, like changed for like so no problem there, and wire in the electrics properly.

I fitted a UK plug, connected the two earth leads to the sink pipes which were already earthed, and used an extension reel fitted with a cut out button from the bedroom. The instructions state that it has twin water temperature cut outs, leakage detector, water detector, heater cut out sensor, and electrical short cut out, so a lot more protection than the jacuzzi at TT.

I really needed to check out the full operation of the bath which had come from Germany before a permanent job was done. Two air pumps, heater, 32 jets, several lights, radio, etc, what could not be working?
