12 days in to Evora ownership

Post by rickyzero » Wed Oct 07, 2015 12:11 am

Well I’m pleased as punch to be able to announce that I’m now the proud owner of a 2010 Evora NA. After 7 years with a VX220 I’m now in the real Lotus club! Although I’d have to say the VX220 is still a real Lotus. ;)

Ever since the Evora was launched I have been obsessed with it. Before I’d even seen one in the flesh I knew it was the ideal car for me. I have been very patient over the years and after selling the VX earlier this year the hunt was on to find the right car. I have to publicly thank Brandon at MMC for my first test drive and for looking out for a potential car for me. And Martin (aka Donkey) for answering my questions and proving that an Evora can indeed be manoeuvred in to my garage! It took nearly 6 months of searching and a few cars that got away but eventually the right car came up. Unfortunately for Brandon it was a private sale but amazingly the car I bought appeared for sale privately only a few meters from my front door! I’m not superstitious but this did seem like it was meant to be and was owned by a thoroughly decent chap. I bought an Aspen White 2010 NA with all the packs and Paprika interior. It’s in excellent condition and has just passed 19,000 miles in the first few days of my possession.

Craig Moncrieff has been instrumental in enabling me to find the right car. After all, it’s thanks to his amazing care of the VX over the last few years that I was able to sell it for what I paid for it 7 years later. Craig came with me to view an Evora a few weeks ago and saved me a lot of grief in identifying an issue that would have made it the wrong purchase. He offered to inspect my new car prior to me completing the deal at his new workshop which was great piece of mind. He’s been like a Lotus guardian angel, able to answer queries via text or email and making the buying process far more risk free. Thank you Craig!

It has not properly sunk in yet that I now own the car of my dreams. It is an incredible machine and the more I drive it, the more I appreciate it. The way it covers ground at speed over harsh surfaces is a revelation compared with the VX. The brakes are incredible and the handling sublime, it seems to float over the road whilst still conveying the surface through the steering wheel. It’s everything I’d hoped it would be and more! The ability to transport a fully grown adult in the back seats is also an added bonus albeit for small journeys only!

I tend to keep cars for a long time and can see me enjoying many years with this one. When the time does come to change I’m pretty sure it will be to another Evora!

These are indeed the thinking man's Lotus.

Like you, ours is a dream never fully believed but now very fully realised :-)

I only wish it could be with us longer, but it's impossible to keep two Lotuses in the household long term :-(

So we are making the very most of "Our year in an Evora" and have ticked all but two boxes in our mission.

With CMC support to keep the car on the road without running up a third world debt, you are onto a winner.

Enjoy.

Congrats! Only 19k miles, that's just a sin in itself. Hitting the 30k mark in mine in the coming weeks and I've not even had it 3 years yet.

Lovely. And one of the few cars in white I genuinely wouldn't purposely avoid..

Although an NA in Arctic silver, with some black SR coloured bits, and yellow calipers is about top of my "Cars I could just about justify" list..

Thanks Martin, business is too much like hard work so I decided I needed to sell a kidney and buy an Evora to keep me motivated! I recommend it!
