Fascinating stuff & way more computerised than I imagined. In my mind they would make cars in colour / spec batches :blackeye

I did think that minis are over priced. Watching this, it is amazing how much goes into making each one. Now I think they are a bargain!...

Not watched it yet, but look forward to seeing it as a few years back I worked in the IBC (Isuzu Bedford Corporation) factory in Luton, next door to the Vauxhall factory, on the Vauxhall Vivaro line (also the Opel/Renault/Nissan equivalents). The set up was an exact replication of the line in northern Spain.

The bit which amazed me most was robots using microswitches and sensors to identify the huge permutations in doors/panels etc (think split rear doors, boot type doors, windows/no windows, short/med/long wheelbase, standard/midi/high roof, etc  )

An Italian company called Comau were the programmers and they would flounce about like they owned the joint :damnfunny

Pity they did not do a full program on Morgan.

Presenter quote " James May there showing any idiot cant fit parts to a robot". Way to make the operatives, colleagues, associates or whatever the touchy feeling way of saying workers is feel good. :D

They got their own back when it came to the boot lid.

The "just in time " parts supply is mighty impressive.

Having done lots of lean, 5S, SMED, 101 acronyms, etc I found it kind of meh. Their expediting looked good and it was interesting to see they ran with 2h of downtime.

Classic.......

Unfortunately it lists all the other sketches down the right hand side, which means that I will be even later out of bed than usual.
