So the car was back in with Craig over Christmas to get the throttle cable replaced. It will be getting a few more Christmas treats when it is there.

Replace the missing stickers, Headlight covers and wheel center caps to finish off the wheels.

The best bit though is that I was able to source a low milage set of S2 shocks. A little unusual being VX220 Turbo type so I had to order the Elise shop conversion mounts. I did have S2 Bilsteins on the car for a few years ago before I changed to Nitrons. Interested to see how the longer 111R shocks feel on the S1. Anything will be better than the hateful Red Koni's that were on it.

I have more work planned for it. The car did have upgraded toe links when it went down to Dan but it came back with a standard set, which we have no history for. They were good enough to get through the MOT with no obvious signs of wear but I plan to change them to upgraded links for piece of mind.

All that is left to do now is get miles on it over the winter.

Fantastic progress, John. Shoulda read this before I asked in the Goals thread if she was still running ;-)

I've enjoyed Bilsteins on mine for many years now. Great for road and the odd track day.

Good stuff John.

I would be very wary which tow links you go for. My elise parts "uprated " kit starts to fail every 1500 to 2500 miles.

Went with Elise shop kit last time. Never had any issues. And I think they were less expensive at the time.

So the car went back to Craig to get a new throttle cable and throttle body fitted. I managed to find a brand new big bore throttle for not many pennies on eBay.

When it was in Craig also fitted a set of Bilstein shocks which I think came from a VX220 Turbo or maybe a 111r. I had to buy a set of adaptor brackets from eliseshop for the longer shocks. The car is sitting lower than before. Not done many miles on them yet.

Craig also fitted the missing stickers and light covers to the car. It had covers on it originally, no idea what happened to them.

New wheel centres really do set off the refurbished alloys

All work done at Craig Moncrief Cars.

What can I say, the man delivers on his promises.

Great to see Vicky back on the road. She's looking great.

Now we just need to find when we're going finish our earlier run through Perthshire> It was flooded roads the last time, think we need snow tyres if we do again it soon.

Last time I looked at your car you had just had your front end done at Murrays. Was looking stunning then.

So as part of the journey to bring Vicky back to fully fighting fit she is away into Craig Moncrieff Cars again for a little TLC. Had a very interesting and extremely tempting discussion about Honda's when I was in but unfortunately with the way the oil industry is I won't be making the jump to a proper engine, regardless of how much I would love to.

"Vicky" is in for a replacement windscreen and a blown exhaust gasket. I am hopeful that it is only the gasket that has gone and not the manifold or down pipe. No doubt I will find out soon enough. My car currently has what I believe to be a standard S1 exhaust with a joint mid way down behind the engine. I don't remember the original manifold having a joint at that point.I believe it was a Janspeed part originally.

The Stack Glass is being replaced when it is in, along with the number plate that I managed to knock off during my Lomond hills run.

With a bit of luck the car should be ready in time for the Drive it Day on the 24th. I just have to hope my insurer doesn't dick about with approving the window claim.
