ISTR that early May was cold. Maybe the concrete wouldn't set. Etc.

But when do we ever believe anything a party says right before an election?!

The concrete pouring for the towers was completed months ago, in the middle of winter! The current activity is all associated with lifting the deck sections into place.
I just don't get the cheek of these people; one month ago the schedule was on track, this month it's delayed several months due to bad weather when the weather during the last month has been almost perfect! :x

Who provided the timing information? The builders or the politicians?

From what Mr Ape was suggesting, it will still be on time, just not as early as expected. So not late as such.

It was early when the Nationalists were being slaughtered after being rumbled for pulling funding on the maintenance on the road bridge. That's died down now so time to fess up as the contractor is only going to ever in for their contractural date not a politicians date.

Pretty sure the big signs that are (were?) by the side of the road have always said 'opening 2016' so they must have always been confident that they would be significantly ahead of the contracted date. Misplaced confidence obviously.....

I'm just getting hacked off with the delays through the roadworks now. There are still two lanes, the only real difference is that it's down to a 40mph limit yet the delays are a nightmare in the morning, and I normally cross around 6.30. Not looking forward to putting up with that for another year.

Type 25 Destroyer is a laugh, built at a cost of £1billion and the engines are shutting down in the Med.

Constructor says they were not told that it would be operating in warm waters, so the cooling water is above temp, shuts the engines down, so the ship is dead for hours with no power. New material for the two Johns if they were still alive.

And how does bad weather for two months equate to a six month delay?

I guess if you are now going to be working into Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec you might decide that what would have taken two months in summer will take four in winter?

Frankly (other than the SNP bashing angle) this is a non-story; I am amazed that the project is going to complete within a decade of when it was supposed to be done by - +/- 6 months is good work IMHO.

I feel for the folks running through the endless traffic cones, but remember if the bridge were shut, you would be running down to Stirling or waiting for a ferry!

Cheers,
Robin
