On the trail of Gary Glitter
GLITTERING stories of a shamed rock star starting a new life in Moray are finally beginning to fade. Whether Gary Glitter has ever been in Newmill, near Keith, remains a mystery, but rumours spread like wildfire that he had been spotted in the community. They started several months ago after claims that Glitter real name Paul Gadd, had been visiting Newmill, and was looking to buy a property in the area.
A resident of the Glen of Newmill whose house was up for sale, denied that the notorious star had looked at his property and has taken his home off the market until the furore dies down. Glitter, who recently returned to the UK after spending almost three years in a Vietnamese prison for sex crimes involving under-age girls, was also said to have visited Newmills Post Office, Pub and shop. The link with him buying a house has been denied, but there have been all kinds of stories, including one that he took a taxi into Keith to do his shopping at Tesco.
Out of the whole country, why would he pick the Glen of Newmill? The seclusion of the Glen of Newmill may have given someone the idea that the convicted paedophile might choose to start a new life there, one Glen resident suggested. Maybe they thought that it is the kind of place he might settle to escape the media glare, she said.

ps:- the dates fit in as Jenkinson put the house up for sale in 2007 then took it off in 2009.
