VX220 Highland Hoon started a Group a few weeks ago, 80 posts in the last day as opposed to the odd one or two on the VX220 Forum.

The Whatsapp group is small, biker-oriented and full-on anarchic. Being closed from wider tinternet they can get away with all sorts.

SE2 forum remains the place to be. Organised, civilised, informative, massively helpful and collaborative. It ain't dead yet.

Merry ChristAllMighty that's a large gin :-)

I have group chats which vary between reasonably civilised and downright medieval :damnfunny

I, of course, remain extremely refined and restrained at all times :blackeye

Tut, the thread you joined on whatsapp isn't an SE replacement. Ita just a few people (who initially came from SE Bikers) talking sh*t. The number of folk on it has grown, and it does tend to be SE'rs that are on the list but it's not meant to replace it.

Other than the occasional new evora announcement, I don't actually think there is any lotus chat on there at all

Merry Christmas everyone. I got a flame thrower for Christmas! Expecting a zombie invasion in 2016.

Interestingly, Whatsapp is more akin to how SE started way back when we just used to email each other, then the list server.

Mike and Dave discuss their breakdowns periodically too.

Clearly people prefer the convenience and that everything they say is not so public - quite understandable.

Merry Christmas all!

Agree this place is dying out and many moved over to WhatsApp, citing it as more convenient to use on phones than the forum. Personally, I find it to be a hideous format for a big group discussion, with disjointed discussion, nearly impossible to follow. Still, don't think I am missing much, as most of the chat is of a playground level of humour and content... Or perhaps I am just getting old and grumpy. Plenty of folk seem to love it and find the time to make 100s of posts so maybe I am missing something, or simply don't have the hours each day to keep up with it.

Bit of a shame to have private groups, IMHO, but that's the way any social groups or clubs evolve. I am not going to change that, so may as well go with the flow, even if I don't like it. As the longer established members on here form their own groups and move on, new members come along, and bring a fresh life to the group. Natural evolution I s'pose, to be embraced.

We get a 'this place is dying' thread every year at least. We're all still here; most of us for over 10 years. Perhaps we're browsers not posters these days but we are still here :)
