Can anyone recommend a solicitor?

Post by duggiesmith » Mon Dec 28, 2015 4:51 pm

I may be in need of a solicitor who knows about property (specifically transferring title deeds from joint ownership to single).
I think there are a few candidates on here or maybe some recommendations from anyone.

TIA
Duggie

I think just about any solicitor should be able to organise that for you.

I've used Thomas H.G. Stewart in Bruntsfield forever - he is both reliable and has competitive rates:

If you speak to Tom say hi from me :-)

Tom is very reasonable rate wise anyway. It won't cost you more of you say hi from me. It won't cost you less either :-) :-) :-)

Duggie,

We also used Tom based upon Robin's recommendation and found him excellent and his attention to detail was faultless - which was good as our house was in a group of steading's with 2 other parties and a farmers field to consider.

His rates were a touch more than an estate agents but given the complexity I was happy to pay that small additional amount for peace of mind.

Of course last time I bought a house was 24 years ago, so his rates then were reasonable but the world has moved on in terms of fixed priced deals etc. (the internet didn't really exist as an e-Commerce platform, for example!).

They're closed until 5th Jan (I'm in the wrong business)
I've dropped them an email, but it also gives me time to search around and get some more quotes (assuming can find anyone that's open).
Thanks all.

Thanks all
I think I'm sorted for now.
Got a couple of valuations lined up for the weekend and spoken to 1 solicitor, with another couple lined up.
