When I was at Uni in edinburgh, I used to take my smart to Thistle Motors on the Gorgie Road.

But only cos they did a voucher thing in the free paper that made MOT's 19.95.

Manor Garage in West Linton (15 minutes down the A702 from the bypass) are worth a try. They have done my Elise and Westfield in the past, and regularly service older Loti including Elans and Esprits, and the odd VX220. I use them for servicing/MOT work on my sensible car too (Ford Focus). They are a father and son outfit - good, reliable guys to deal with.

Excellent, I'll give them a call - I remember somebody else recommending them for a service too. Cheers.

Ewan Rutherford @ Monktonhall garage, 2 minutes outside Edinburgh near Musselburgh. He does Ferrari, BMW, Lotus, everything nice.

Fully recommend him.

Or a bit further afield, Chris Allen @ Linton Services, East Linton (20 mins down the A1).

Again, fully recommend him.

When I had my MGF, Monktonhall Garage did the headgasket and 48k service (inc. cambelts) for £700ish which I thought was a fair price.

Had a C service and general check over (to notify of anything that might need doing soon) by Linton Services done a couple of weeks ago for £140ish.

PS: It's the process of removing the catalitic converter, for track days only

Mark, are you calling my car odd? :D

Just registered to add some feedback for Manor Garage. They've been servicing and maintaining my VX for the last 5 years (2.2 and now VXT). I'm back next month getting the balljoints replaced, nylatron bushes and adjustable ARB fitted, and the geometry reset since fitting 2-way adjustable Nitrons.

What sort of prices you getting as I got a massive quote for what is essentially very little work so I am led to believe. Matrix change and brake fluid change.

Gordon mentioned somewhere else a friend of his with a garage(grangemouth i think). sounds like it might be worth a shot.
