Utility Supplier

Post by campbell » Fri Sep 29, 2017 8:00 am

Scottish Power have been formally slapped over customer service I think.

Haven't been with them for 10yrs+

Went to EON and now First Utility.

Elec 13.2p, Gas 2.9p.

Standing chgs 20p and 17.7p per day.

No cause to test their cust service other than switching, which was painless. Slick website.

Only downside is they're desperately trying to sell me broadband and a smart meter, neither of which I need right now. But fairly easily ignored.

I like them.

Utility Supplier

I moved from a woeful Scottish power to EDF around the time some of you went to GB energy preferring to move to an established supplier. I’ve been switching to fixed deals with them ever since. My last deal was a free switch mid term as there was no tie in and the app tells you if there is a better deal to switch to. Current electricity rate is 12.24p with standing charge of 18p and gas is £2.24 with standing charge of 25p.

Probably not THE cheapest rate about but I like that I can easily switch internally if something better comes up and they tell me if there is a better deal available.

Nice app feature that, D.

First Utility have an app too but it doesn't do that.

You will not get a better rate than 12.24p Don, that did not come up on my radar or I would have taken it, so much for price comparison sites.

When I left SP I owed them £1,100 which I had to pay. I had set my DD at TT at £170 which was about right, and every month they reduced it to £69 which I presume is Country average. Also they took no payments for the first few months. I then arranged to pay that back by monthly DD and guess what? They took no payments for six months and then started threatening me with legal action.

I recently moved from FU as the fix term ended and they want to stick me on an expensive tariff. (their customer service and app were excellent though)

Grabbed a deal with SSE which was supposed to give me cashback via Quidco but it didn't track. Currently overpaying monthly on both Gas and Elec as my bank account gives me 2% back every month and you don't get penalised when they give you the cash back. :thumbsup

Must be tied into my laptop.

Put your details into www.moneysupermarket.com and it will come up with Economy Energy near the top of the list. Select them and it will show you costs which should be 12.79 and 14p. You can then click to go ahead and it will direct you to their site and if you want to go with them they will take it from there.

I recently switched to Green Network Energy, after the coop decided they wanted to double my direct debit.

Think this could well be the cheapest electricity rate yet, at 11.93p/kwh and a standing charge of 23.50p. Gas is 2.70p/kwh and 20.93p standing charge. This was taken out on a 1 year fixed deal only 2 weeks ago.

Is this tied to your postcode? Or is it because Im trying for dual fuel?

I can only get 15p for leccy and 3.1 for gas??

First thing they ask is the supply post code, so I guess it's tied into the rate offered. FWIW, I just checked again and it looks like their price has changed for me in the last 2 weeks also.
