I think Tory is probably a better SNP beater than Labour. But it's neck and neck and between them they're still probably trailing the Nats.

Falkirk east in 2011 was:

Snp -14K
Labour - 10K
Tory 2.5K

Previous years had the top two reversed but Tory always about the same. So I'm thinking it has to be labour to have any chance of ousting the snp

Scottish Parliamentary Elections Sweepstake

Post by BigD » Thu May 05, 2016 6:44 am

I was thinking of voting tactically but decided in the end that it doesn't really make a difference to the end result. Yes SNP will win but I'd rather vote for the party I believe in the most. That way the totals across the country will reflect what people actually want. Hopefully........

I could be wrong but it seems something of a stretch to me that a country that has been historically left wing would make such a massive leap to the right and push Tory into 2nd place.

Cult of personality I suppose - Ruth comes across well but I doubt most folk could even name a second Tory.

As for historically left wing. In 1955 conservative had the majority in Scotland. Depends which particular point in history you choose to use I suppose.

Probably the torys, although maybe a better chance with labour to try and stop snp. Decisions decisions.

I sent in a postal vote.

No way that I am making an unnecessary journey down our track unless there was a hand job at the end of it.

I'm told that the no vote and the conservatives align nicely, and people are disillusioned with Labour given their failure to really do anything of late. Lib Dems shot themselves in the foot during the coalition thus the Tories are not looking so bad...

Labour are a car crash, like a parody of a 1980s student union or Stoney Bridge district council.

Referendum politics will play the biggest part.

SNP will secure majority easily by the masses of the unthinking Indy2 believers

Tory's may get second as the most vocal opposition to Indy2 (prob why they'll get my vote, plus Ruth seems decent)

Labour still completely vague on the issue, caught between socialist roots (anti-nationalist) and desire to attract votes.

They just can not keep their mouths shut.

Sadiq Khan, the Labour candidate in the London mayoral elections, apologised for referring to moderate Labour councillors as "Uncle Toms".

...as the Prime Minister demanded that the Labour leader withdraw a previous description of Hamas and Hezbollah as "friends".

As for Livingstone, does he actually think before deciding a Hitler comparison is a good idea? Plus the other two thrown out for anti Semitism.

It just gets better.
