Finally started watching on iplayer. 2 attempts. Dozed off part way through both times. But that's not a symptom of the show, I'm just v busy right now :-)

I enjoyed what I saw. And still motivated to watch the remainder. Also really looking forward to Extra Gear now, based on critics' views above!

The greatest thing of all is, by end of the year we'll have two petrol head farce programmes to enjoy each week. Let's look on the bright side.

PS I thought Matt would be poor but I'm well impressed. And the kids are going to LOVE it. They're nuts about Friends. They've watched the Box Set at least twice =8-o

Same here, preferred him to Evans.

I must be in the minority because I thought it was actually more watchable than the old show.

I'm suprised that Evans didn't want to put his own stamp on things but my guess would be that the editorial decision was to steady the ship, get a series under their belts, then take the show forward from there. Maybe next series we'll see them take it in a slightly different direction ?

Was ok I thought. Evans was annoying which disappointed me as I actually quite like him on the radio...perhaps that's where he should stay. The extra on bbc3 was much better. Sure it will improve with time. Hopefully. I'll keep watching anyway until they start charging for iplayer...

Well that was significantly better than last weeks one I thought.

Evans needs to find his own style for the tests instead of doing a poor imitation of Clarkson and LeBlanc needs to work on his studio/autocue delivery but there were some genuinely funny moments in the Africa film, the McLaren bit was enjoyable when Evans wasn't being Clarkson and it didn't feel like there was any 'filler' in there.

Overall I'd put that above the average level of the last three or four series.

Wil be interesting to see how Harris and Rory get on on the main show next week too.

Much better tonight. Jenson/675LT piece was good. Trashing the SUVs entertaining (esp the cocktails/reversing cameras) also good.

Extra Gear tomorrow...

As predicted. Kids loved it. Sunday nights sorted for a while now.

Taking the p!ss out of Eddie Jordan is always good viewing. I do like him as well mind. In an affable jester kind of way.

Won't pretend it's perfect but other viewing is available if we wish. Good luck to the team as they continue to bed in.

Agree, better than episode one. I enjoyed that, and made me laugh. Eddie was more watchable than I had expected.

Top Gear audience drops by a third on second episode

After 2 episodes (neither of which engaged me sadly), are we allowed to say we don't like the new team impersonating the old team yet? Or do we still have to give it a chance?

For the record, I really enjoyed the old TG with Clarkson and co. It had everything this new version is missing: authority, camaraderie, reason(!), hilarity, and so on. There just isn't any of that now. The tests are just a shouty chap spouting nonsense. The guest bit is reduced to a nothingness. The host boasts of his car buying, whereas previously the others would take the piss, etc, which made it entertaining (the Ramsey bit like this was especially cringeworthy). The challenges have no sense of purpose to them now. The forced enthusiasm, eg. Sharleen Spiteri trying too hard to show enthusiasm while watching. They're destined for failure until they plough their own furrow.

Extra Gear is good for the Chris Harris driving'n'talking bits - uniquely now, he's a car journalist, he knows what he's saying. But Rory needs to stop his CBBC "yeah, cool, alright, yeah, wow, cool" style.

Feel better for getting that off my chest...

I guess the general public haven't taken to it. Viewing figures down to 2.8 million and beaten by the Antiques Roadshow and ITV. I didn't see last nights but would still rather watch a car programme than old stuff being valued so hoping it picks up.

I got bored after 10 mins and turned over (actually watched something I had recorded).

Still too much shouting, and I have no interest in a bunch of celebs in SUV's - specifically that C**k Jordan.

I watched the McLarens and that was it.

Should have known ginge had one, JB would like one but sold out.
