New runaround

Post by simon » Tue Oct 18, 2016 5:46 pm

A few months of searching and I've now got myself back into a Lotus :D

Despite not wanting a blue one I've somehow ended up with exactly that. I always wanted a laser blue Elise before I bought my S2 12 years ago but Lotus stopped doing it for a few years and I ended up with the magnetic blue one. So when the one I bought appeared on PH I kept looking at the pics and eventually decided to go for it. There was also a grey one that I was thinking of looking at but I wanted this to be a bright colour after my last Lotus (Exige S) was black.

After putting a deposit on it (whilst on holiday in Spain!) I took an early flight from Dundee to Stanstead on Friday and made my way to Reading where I was picked up. An hour or so later I was on my way on a slightly dull, motorway-heavy drive home. Thankfully the Evora seems to be a great cruiser and I was home in about 9.5 hours not feeling particularly tired despite the 5am start.

The previous owner gave me loads of info on it before I bought and it's a great spec having all 3 packs, carbon fibre barge boards, mirror covers, door pulls and A pillar covers, as well as the 2012 steering wheel and gear knob and the superb looking forged alloys. It also has a great sounding 2bular exhaust with blue tips that match the colour of the car pretty nicely.

There's a couple of small issues I need to sort, nothing too big and I'll get them fixed over time but otherwise I'm delighted with it.
I'm almost certainly going to get the sills and splitter painted black and I might do the roof too but not 100% on that yet.

Also good to discover was 2 of the child seats I already have fit reasonably well so I've been out 4 up already :)

Don't have many pics yet but here's a quick snap of it on the drive.

Not seen the forged wheel option before, they are very smart indeed. :thumbsup

I had told myself I wouldn't want to own a laser blue Lotus, look where that got me. lol Love it now obviously. :-)

Very nice choice Simon, particularly like those forged Alloy's. Would love a set for my Evora but £1k a bit pricy for me.

Is it an N/A or S ?

They really real great at covering the miles, and brilliant as a daily too.

Cheers

It's an N/A, plenty of power for the road I think. I don't think it feels as torquey as the 993 did but I immediately feel more comfortable driving it.

Cheers Andy. I was looking out for you on Sunday actually as I was out your way but on my bike doing a loop through Inchture, Abernyte and Newtyle.

The N/A really has plenty of power for the road, I was out with C7 Steve in his V6 recently and didn't feel I was missing too much, probably way different on track though.
