/Splutter!/
/Cough!/
£82,000!!!!!
1,325kg kerbweight (with no A/C, S/N, etc)
so, in reality, you're looking at £85-90K, compare that with a 911 starting at £76,412.00 (hell the Carrera S is only £85,857.00).
Right, hands up, who would choose the Evora over the 911C? (and I am far from a 911 fan!)

Lotus new prices are bonkers, IMO they are putting themselves into a price category that needs more than just driving dynamics to differentiate.

Agree, but moreso seeing an increase in weight were as almost every other manufacturer is going the other way. Losing sight of what Lotus is...

Still lower claimed weight than a Cayman GT4 but with the power of a 911 is the claim. Albeit it's lighter by about 30kg and I'll bet "production variables" will see it creep higher than the claimed weight...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I think 1.3 tons is a light car, but they are clearly paying attention to what they can market it as. At the end of the day, they are making money for one of the first times in their history, so whatever the plan is, it's currently working for the company.

Funny, loads of negative comments here but EVERY review I've read and seen today (7 in total including usual Porsche lovers in PH etc.) have nothing but praise for the car.
I'd have an Ardent Red or Renault Flame Red one tomorrow if I had £80k sat there wanting to be spent. No brainer.
As for 410 over a Porsche 911, was that a serious question? If so, then, err, well, no, I'll take the 410 please every time and you can keep the keys to the Beetle.

I don't like the louvred hatch, the stoopid alu plate replacing the stereo/nav, or the idea of chucking the aircon. Other than that it's interesting.
The Evora is no lightweight in absolute terms, but it's way bigger inside than Elise/Exige, and is a +2. (As much as most 911's are +2 at least.
A slimmed down, de-specced version of their comfortable well-specced model doesn't make massive sense to me, but niche models seem to sell well for other manufacturers so I am sure there is a market. Bentley sold a 2-seat, caged gt3-r version of their GT for example - slimmed down to 2285kg.

Looks great to me and I'd definitely have one over a Porsche. I read lots of comments on here and on Seloc about Lotus needing to match Porsche quality in that price range, but since when has Porsche quality been all that great? Not so long ago they made an entire generation of 911s (the pre 2009 997) where the engines self destructed in large numbers. Too early to judge the longevity of the latest 718 & 991 turbo engines, but based on Porsche's past history of bore scoring, IMS and RMS failure etc I'd place a large wodge on the Evora drivetrain being more reliable.

Pretty sparkling review.
Getting 70kg off the kerb weight - that's 5% - is no miracle given they started with a GT, but it's a talking point. And I imagine it does make it more track-oriented than any other Evora before it.
However I'm still delighted with my "amateurish-intetiored" MY10 NA thanks, and at less than half the price, I can live with that
Looking forward to the 2020 Elise though. Not that it'll be in our budget...

you're not wrong, it's bad enough being £80+K, but then look at the depreciation, it's horrendous.

Yes, I am aware all cars depreciate, however, the level of the Evora is just horrific.
Now compare this with the 911C's out there, their depreciation is trivial in comparison, then you get to running costs and reliability.

PS - there is something wrong with the official specs.
Peak torque of 302 lbs.ft at 3.5krpm
But to make 410bhp at 7000 rpm requires you to be making over 307lbs.ft of torque.

As much as I've had my issue with MMC recently, I'd have to say I'd be inclined to still go Evora over Carrera. I actually do like the fact you don't see a Lotus on the road everywhere you go.
I'd have a 410 without the aircon but I would option the stereo back in though as parking without the rear sensors would just be a pain in the back side.
I've never actually driven a 911, I've only driven a Cayman S and the GT4 - both lovely cars. The GT4 optional 918 seats did give me a sore back after 20 minutes of driving though, which is interesting given I can happily drive an Elise or Exige for a couple hundred miles with no issues at all.

vid link borrowed from the lotus forum.... Looks rather fun on the move.
I'd option both AC and Infotainment back in, and suffer the 13kg penalty.

410ps and so slightly fewer HP?
Not sure why the Evora is regarded as overweight when the last Esprits weighted around the same iirc. And I'm pretty sure the Evora is a good step on in all regards.
Still can't stand the look of the 400/410 though, although the latter us an improvement.
