There are still ‘Chris Harris Drives’ videos being released and they are done in the same style as his old stuff, albeit less frequent.
This I didn’t know, I knew they were regurgitating his old stuff under the TG brand but I didn’t realise there were new ones... I shall go look, now I’m more optimistic.

Alpine looks a good car but very optimistically priced. Like the Alfa 4C will be a rare sight as the masses will stick to Coxsters n Caymans . I note Lotus have killed off the 134bhp Elise, only SCs available now. Maybe that is the way. Everyone trying to climb upmarket and up price .

The 1.6 was a great concept, but never quite quick enough.

I think EU emission regs killed the 1.8 134bhp engine, which had better torque and needed only 5 ratios to get the best out of it.

Having driven both in close proximity to a K series S1, the 1.8 134 was very close in character indeed. The 1.6 needed the knackers revved off it and all 6 gears otherwise felt lacking.

The 1.6 was probably the only option though and well done Lotus for having a go. But they needed to get a true 50kg off the kerb weight too and that was never going to happen. Partly because it could take the power-to-weight too close to the supercharged models I guess!

Simplifying the Elise range will do no harm for production costs and overheads at the factory. And that frees up working capital for R&D, which will let the engineers innovate to bring us further shekshy models in the next 5-10 yrs

The drive for lower emissions has all but killed normally aspirated engines. Buying shares in Garret, Rotrex and other turbine companies 5 yrs back would have been a smart move

I like the look of the Alpine, retro without trying to be.

I must be getting old though, I also liked the Volvo.
I’m definitely getting old- was on the net halfway through the program checking the price of XC60s.

I also have the horn for V90 estates (and I’m not even 40 yet) 😳
Let’s make this clear, I’m not buying one.......but I agree, the chunky estate cars look the best and although it shouldn’t matter, they have the best interior smell of any car I’ve sat in!

I’ve just seen pics of the soon-to-be-released V60.
That’s a serious contender to replace the family Octavia (had previously thought a 335d touring was the only real choice).

The V90is a great place to be doom sure the V60 will be the same as interiors are identical. This is our 5th Volvo and the the build /material quality is way better than before. Good choice 😀

I have a current V60 and it's a superb package especially in Polestar trim!
However the boot is nothing like as cavernous as an Octavia. You'd need the new V90 for that! :)

Not really a surprise, although disappointing as he was the best of the current line up (IMHO). So the speculation starts again.....

I dunno, Harris is good also. then again he is the only professional motoring jurno on the show. Can't stand Rory, think he's a plank so hopefully they get someone interesting. Maybe a female presenter this time? What about the her that does the driver interviews on Sky F1, Lee Mackenzie and she is Scottish.

Lee would be fantastic.

Perhaps they can't afford her.

Or she is too straight laced. Brilliant interviewer though.

David Coulthard will need a job soon too I guess...

Perhaps Monkeys antics in the last series will attract finally Guy Martin.
But that’s the petrol heads choice and we already got one.

TG was the highest exporter bbc prog st one point and still has deep pockets and international followers so suspect it will be another left field choice with international presence.

Dario Franchitti gets my £5. MASSIVE in the US, Hollywood wife so has a black book for guests, MBE, media trained, handy with a car and Scottish.
