Anyone seen it?
Anyone know what it is ?
It has a camera, an overhead device, which to me looks like it may be Xray, and lots of other goodies on it.....

I was visiting my Sister in West Lothian at the weekend and noticed this also.
If we're talking about the same thing and it's at the traffic lights then it's equipment to monitor air quality. There is a large sign beside it saying so.

Jeremy

That's the one, we were heading East, so perhaps never seen the sign. I did think there were some weather stuff on it, wind speed etc, but why the overhead device, and ANPR?

I was heading West and this is where the sign is located. I only managed to read it because I was pulling away from the lights. I didn't notice any ANPR but then I only drove past it once.
Maybe worth parking up and having a nosey around if you're driving past it regularly ?

Jeremy

I imagine if it's monitoring air quality then it also makes sense to monitor the amount & type of traffic going past.
The junction of East Main Street & Greendykes Road in Broxburn must be one of the most polluted areas in Scotland.

AFAIK Hope Street in Glasgow has that honour. One of the most polluted streets in Europe.
Mind you, it'll soon be out of Europe.....

More details here....

Quote.... EDAR uses satellite and laser technology to give a true picture of vehicle emissions, as well as recording license plate, speed, acceleration and temperature of the exhaust.
Only a matter of time before we'll see automatic fines for emissions violations, not necessarily a bad thing but where else will it lead???
