Hmmm. I've thought that for the past couple of Christmases so will keep thinking of it more as an early Easter present for a while. :blackeye :blackeye

Ah, I forgot to mention that the IVA brake test on 7th December was cancelled on the morning of the test (Inspector caught Covid) and was postponed to 4th Jan 2021. Seems a long time ago that I started this thread way back in May 2017. Oh well... a final, end of year update is to say it went back to ListerBell today from the paintshop after a week of polishing and detailing and adjusting all the panel gaps and is now ready for the decals. Not sure if they will be done before the IVA or not now. They're going to keep the IVA dash and exhaust etc on the car till after the Pass Certificate is given just so it doesn't look like taking the pi$$ for the retest.

Onwards and upwards...

Car is looking really great with the graphics applied.

Can't believe it has been that long since you've started the thread but at least you have something to look forward to next year

Do feel your pain as told today that my Series 2a build is delayed till mid Feb at the earliest as well due to Covid delays

Hoping the months fly by for you and sure that once your behind the wheel it will all be forgotten

Incredibly it passed the final hoop of the IVA test and all the paperwork can now be sent off to DVLA to get it registered.

The "incredible" bit is because the brake test was booked last month when there was no real talk of lockdowns but that obviously all changed pretty rapidly. ListerBell folk got an email saying tests may be cancelled at short notice so to phone before turning up but nobody answered the phone. The test was booked for 12.30pm today in Derby and Craig from ListerBell just turned up. Apparently they looked a bit surprised but went ahead anyhow and since it was just a brake test it was done and dusted within 15 mins. At 4pm they closed shop till further notice. Definitely a Christmas bonus!!

Phew!! It's getting the camshafts changed and the race exhaust fitted this week then getting dropped off at the rolling road and specialist tuners in Norwich Wednesday. I'd hoped to go down for that but guess it's not the wisest thing to do at the moment so will pester them to take some photos and video like last time.

Light at the end of the tunnel.

Jim,

Glad to hear that you got a break at last (excuse the pun)

Thought this may be a nice addition to the fleet until you get the actual vehicle :)

If anyone is still awake after all this time...

A couple of small updates...

The post-IVA changes are happening now. For the engine this means the standard camshafts from the Alfa 3.2 GT engine have been changed for reprofiled higher lift ones and vernier pulleys have been fitted. The original intention had been to use Pipercams for this but a change of plan means that the Fast Road cams from AH Motorsport are being used.

The car is heading back to SCS-Delta next week for final mapping. The switchable map to an over-fueling "pop-bang-flames" mode is still very much on the agenda again :)

I'm not really chasing big numbers here. If I was then a supercharged Toyota 2GR-FE V6 would be the way to go. I'm after a bit of screaming Italia character with the naturally aspirated Busso engine but with a bit of added race-car burble and idle. In any event, it will be academically interesting to see how the transformation goes.

The Group 4 decat exhaust is back on the car having been treated at Zircotec and the custom ListerBell Airbox has been fitted.

In terms of bodywork, the lower fog light pods and lamps have been fitted, the IVA mirrors have been replaced, the side repeater spacers have been removed and the rear disc bells have been swapped to help the wheels fill the arches better.

So, another step on the homeward leg.

The car had been down at SCS-Delta (https://www.scs-delta.co.uk/) recently to go back on the rolling road after having the Fast Road spec cams. They had also supplied the bespoke ECU for the car

The stock 3.2 Alfas make about 240 bhp on their rolling road. Way back in October 2019 my car made 286 bhp on their rollers with the ListerBell ITB set-up and Group 4 exhaust.

This time, with the final spec including the ITBs and Fast Road cams the car made 322 bhp.

Image

I'm really happy with that. The car was mapped on standard fuel and with the bodywork, airbox and filters in place, so pretty much as it will be on the road.

Again I had it set up with a selectable map for a "pop-bang-flames" from a toggle switch on the dash for a bit of theater and fun (when appropriate of course)

From memory the car weighed 960kg at the IVA test which included the weight of the boat-anchor IVA exhaust so in general terms I think it's probably in a nice "sweet spot" for power, power/weight and equally important to me, noise. Lots of noise :D
