CUP 220 - S CUP or Exige v6
CUP 220 - S CUP or Exige v6
Not that I am looking just yet ... but what is the story with the lack of CUP 220s and S CUPs ? very limited production runs ? superseded by the 250 CUP quickly ? cant seem to get a new 220 CUP now.
Like the idea of the CUP 250 but its hard to justify when low mileage V6s in my preferred colour are at the 40K mark on mass.

Re: CUP 220 - S CUP
The 220 Cup was replaced by the 250 Cup. If your on Facebook there is a Lotus Elise 220 and 250 Cup Owners Group.

If you can stretch to a V6, that will be quite an experience over any mainstream Elise. IMHO

Wow, I hadn't ever considered there was a chance of £40k V6 Exige.
Wonder if/when they will get down to £30k and Evora prices.
On a superficial level, never seen Motorsport Green in real life but it always looks good in pics, had a MK1 Golf Gti in metallic green loved the car and colour, 2 of the cheapest Exiges are motorsport green

Hopefully never they seem to be holding value a lot better than evoras, you may see the odd roadster at 38k but they have been 40-45k for a couple of years nowIanD wrote: Wonder if/when they will get down to £30k and Evora prices.

I was thinking the same. Never was going to be my answer. Hard to imagine with the new cars getting ever more expensive.philthy wrote:Hopefully never they seem to be holding value a lot better than evoras, you may see the odd roadster at 38k but they have been 40-45k for a couple of years nowIanD wrote: Wonder if/when they will get down to £30k and Evora prices.

They were made in very small numbers, the 220 and S CUP. 250, I am not sure where they are sitting build number wise, but I have all the figures for the S & 220 CUP. Hopefully It will keep prices high. They are sitting pretty stable at the moment, however like most things Lotus, It is a very niche market, and nothing sells quickly, unless its cheap.

Re: CUP 220 - S CUP
Pretty sure Murray's have a secondhand 250 or are expecting one in. Worth a call if you're looking.
There are good V6 threads on both SELOC and TLF if your looking to gen up.

Re: CUP 220 - S CUP
Well, I could have gone for a V6 Exige, but went for a 220 Cup and don’t regret it! Very different beasts, but I prefer the low weight on track. If I had an infinite supply of petrol, brake pads/discs and tyres, might be a differnt story, admittedly... Both fine choices though!

Re: CUP 220 - S CUP
Morning. Another almost there update ... again apologies for my ramblings over the years lads. Hoping to be back in a Lotus next summer if all goes to plan.
Find myself completely torn between an Elise V3 derivative and an early Exige v6. Contacted Leven, going to pop in later this year. There is also the possibility of the 2020 Elise making an appearance.
-I wont track the car.
-Will be a second car for sunny days.
-Currently do 4000 miles a year in total.
-Garage doors are 2000mm wide. Exige v6 will just fit but new garage door would be useful to increase clearance.
-Exige v6 is more grown up in many ways, v6 sounds great.
-Elise i suspect will be easier to live with, cheaper to run, probably more fun, probably cheaper to purchase too depending on model.
-Heart says Exige.
-Head says Elise (in the context of Lotus )
-My first Lotus was the Exige 190 NA (2005 model) purchased in 2007.
-I have an Exige t-shirt I am not wearing until I have one again ...
Interested in other people experiences when trying both cars.
Completely torn, i switch my mind on a weekly basis and have consumed pretty much every youtube video (including a few from SE members found along the way).
just spotted Tut's reply to this thread.

Re: CUP 220 - S CUP or Exige v6
Totally subjective, but as lovely as the Elise is, its more of less the same formula as the Exige S2.. Same-ish weight, similar 4-cyl engine. Seems like a more up to date iteration of the S2 Exige. Watched one of the Carfection video reviews, and that was his conclusion. Not that it makes it any less appealing.!
For a road car, the S3 Exige seems the better proposition. I wouldn't trade my ratty VX for a later Elise, but I might once early S3 Exiges reach the £30k mark..
