With respect tut the V6 Exige platform has a lot more mechanical grip than yours but it true that all sports cars now have way more power then they can use on the road. Was one of the reasons I let go of the R8, it was just too fast on the road where it spent 95% of it's life. But Lotus always said that they couldn't put the 400 power plant in the current Exile as it was a packaging issue, I guess the resolved that and found a way. I disagree with what has been said about affecting the values of 380 cups because now there is an unlimited 430 that will no doubt make an appearance in Lotus Cup Europe against 3-11's, yet another class in an already very busy grid. Likely they will sell a bunch of race cars and quite a few trackway/road cars even at £100k.

It's setting the bar fairly high in terms of price and power for when the next gen cars come along.

It is amazing how the price of Lotus cars has evolved in a comparatively short space of time. Was the V6 Exige not original a £50k car, I know my cup was a mid £60k but had a few pricey options. Cup 380 took it to a whole new level and now the 430 and we are at £100k.

That was only if you'd pre ordered. By the time they were rolling out of the factory it had jumped by 2k. And it was easy to put 10k of options on. Still a big jump to 100k but it's a big jump in performance

£10k for 30bhp when buying a Cup 380 over the sport 350 is reasonable value given all the extra carbon etc that was thrown in. £20k for 50bhp but not so much carbon. Looking at it this way makes it look like a reasonable price. But at £100k for a car that still compromised with an awkward cabin and lets not forget a toyota engine is a stretch.
Don't get me wrong I like the car and there isn't anything out there to challenge it at this price point but if it was my money not so sure it would be spent on this.

And many others can but dream too!

Agree ref cabin. I like the intimacy of it in an Elise. Needs to be upped at this echelon though.

Great videos, thanks for posting.

One thing that struck me in the first and third was how the drivers leg kept knocking the gear lever. Looks annoying. Cannot remember having that issue in my Exige S2 ..... but I have short legs

380 sports were/are the best bit of £75-80k the cups were closer to £85-90.

Best of luck to lotus. I quite fancy seeing what you need to do to get a 350 Sport to outperform one!
