Not til age 11. She's 3...
With the high back booster laws, does she fit in an Evora at all?
I think Martin's wee guy does fine but poss different seat.

I've had a Recaro Young Sport in mine no bother.
I have the same seat and sam fits in but he's now eligible for the next stage of high backed booster and that will free up some more space do looking at that.
i3s, Volvo and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Dom,

Don't know whether this is over budget but have you thought about a Nissan GT-R

Dom the problem with super nice coupe plus old sheddy volvo is that you will, almost certainly, end up going for all but the family day trips in said volvo.

An evora or similar is absolutely capable of being a car for the three of you but mrs dom will very very very very quickly start lobbying for the volvo to be taken more often than not. It's annoying is you have a lovely daily driver (like your merc) but it's soul destroying if you have a shed.

Take it from the man who ended up going EVERYWHERE in a 2007 astra.

Why this happens is unclear but the main issue seems to relate to handbags not being able to be stored at her feet and / or the ability to get comfy.

Don't get me wrong i still think an evora / 911 / maser / jag is a great option but more often than not it will be you on your own or with offspring.

We now have a '14 volvo which we take almost everywhere while the evora doesn't get used as a family car enough.

EDIT : I still love it (as does master donkey) but it's not being used as our main family car.

Alternate view. Lisa was happy for us to take the Evora as often as poss, whether 2, 3 or 4-up.

Take Ieva to try one. Get her to sign something. Job done ;-)

I witnessed Ieva agree that an Evora was an acceptable purchase ... And that she trusted Dom to make the right decision. (I had thought she seemed like a sensible girl too :? )

Campbell, I think your Lisa is the exception rather than the rule.

My Mrs loves a nice car. But her definition of a ‘nice car’ is different to mine.

She went in my VX only a handful of times. Kennys Exige lives in my garage for a large portion of the year and I’ve never persuaded her to get in it yet.

She doesn’t even like to go as a family in my car as it’s a three-door. Although to be fair, when her Octavia is there I don’t see the point either.
I’ve a feeling that may still happen if I had an Evora instead of a 1series....

Guess I should count my lucky stars eh!

Mind you. I treated Lisa to 2 Octavias. And a TT. What more can a girl ask for Image

Indeed you should!

Although I feel I’m lucky enough that Kat takes care of her car and is a good driver.
I’ve plenty of mates who’s wives couldn’t care less what car they drive as they have no interest in cars and they bump/scrape them semi-regularly anyway.

Where on the scale Mrs Dom sits will have a big bearing on how often he gets to use a ‘special’ car, I’m sure!

Yup - I would agree with a lot of comments that the 'comfier, easier to get everything in shed' would probably end up being used a lot more the the fun driver......

Maybe a nice sports estate like an Avant RS4 would not be a bad shout and use a trailer or hire a van for the odd occasion you have too much stuff for the smaller estate.

Some really great suggestions there! Would I need to learn how to play a football if I went down the Bently conti route?

Always loved the Brera too - that could work along side a nicer estate car.. speaking of which, trailer idea could be a good shout.

If you go down the Brera avenue then make sure its the Prodrive version:

You can pick up a decent BMW 335D MSport Touring from £20k I think. Even with Adaptives my 335D was a little bit spoungy when pressing on, however a set of AC Schnitzer springs seemingly transforms the car. Was always on my list of modes to make the car much more responsive (relatively speaking) on the back roads. Also if you go for white like I did, the traffic on outside land of the motorway disperses when you are wearing a white shirt :)
