RS4 Avant or 340i x drive touring
I think the 340i is only rear wheel drive, you need to get the 335D X Drive to go all wheel drive - however feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Another option from the Audi stable could be the S4 (Chris Harris mapped his to near RS4 levels of performance with a Revo re-map). Definitely ticks the sleeper box for sitting outside and would be like a standard A4 if you ditch the chrome mirrors.

Another alternative could be S5 (coupe or sportback if you want more practicalities).

I don't really see the need for x-drive. Stick a set of winters on and RWD will be fine for anything you'll encounter on UK roads.

So I’m a bit brainwashed on Audi handling being poor and the photocopy styling, but an RS4 Avant or TTRS ?

Are any of the M cars available in X drive form ?

At present there are no true M cars which are 4 wheel drive except the new M5 (suspect mega bucks).

I had a 335D Xdrive M Sport Touring and the handling was a little bit wallowy when pressing on. However this can be rectified by putting on some AC Schnitzer springs.

I agree that winters will do wonders on a FWD/RWD car, however as I am not a driving god I would prefer the ressurance on 4wd due to the rubbish weather we get even if it means a compromise for the times that I would be able to have a good blast.

There are 3 M cars available now with x drive.

The New M5 (just released meaning still expensive) and the X5M / X6M - I'm not getting into the X5/6 isn't a true M car as it's an SUV debate :)

I've just ordered a X5M - 0% APR ad £23k discounts at the moment. which make it a bit more palatable.

Well the M is at the wrong end.
I can just imagine the BMW board meeting...

We need to make an SUV.
Let's call it the X5. X, like cross, as in cross country, 5 because it's our middle exec size.
Perfect logical name. Approved!

Years later...
The X5 is so successful. We need a halo model. An M version. The M5.
But sir, that's our saloon.
Bullock, OK, the MX5. Perfect.
Ummm sir....
'16 MINI Cooper S - Family fun hatch
'98 Lotus Elise - Fun day car
'07 Fiat Panda 100HP - Daily puddle jumper
'04 Maserati Coupe GT - Manual, v8, Italian...

Giulia and Stelvio in Arnold Sharks. Both diseasels and look over-bodied and under-tyred. Have spotted a nice QV on PH.
My local vet has an Alfa Giullia and he is investigating whether the car can get serviced by Maserati as the engine is seemingly the same? Admit I suspect there would be a hike in pricing but may be worth it to keep the Arnold monkeys hands away from the car.

Also if you are thinking of an RS4, there is one a B8 2013 RS4 Avant at Edinburgh Audi without the dynamic steering (but poverty spec) or alternatively pop across to James Glen who have a red 2014 RS4 with the sports pack (which has the dynamic steering).

George - let me know how your vet chum gets on with his Maserati service question. Is that in Edinburgh ?

The RS4 - 2+ owners ?
Emira - Volvo spec

Yep the vet is Penrland vets in Currie. Dont know when the dogs are due a check up but will speak to him if its happening soon.

The RS4 at Edinburgh Audi is a 2 owner car from my memory, 33k milea, has B&O, privacy glass but missing sports exhaust and suspension. However it will give you an idea of what one with no dynamic steering feels like.

Anyone used carwow yet ? I tried a few quotes but no idea how competitive it really is. Apparently the car dealer industry is worried about it.

I've been offered some great deals on BMWs of late (some mad deals on 140's etc) - but if it must be 4WD - new RS4?

TBF the Golf R take a bit of beating in this area.

Vardys in Edinburgh have the new M4/M3 CPs.

Exige V6 - and winter tyre up? Gayman?

My cousins husband has used drivethedeal for a Skoda and carwow for a VW in the last couple of years.

The Carwow VW dealer was in Ayr and he paid exactly what they quoted with no hassle and they delivered the car to him.

He would recommend both companies :thumbsup

Is the Golf R basically the same mechanically as the Sirocco R Andy, 280hp and DSG?

Luke has just bought one.
