Not a single stat re accident rates, right enough.

Not exactly word for word but this morning on the radio I heard,

"We believe it will lead to a reduction of accidents in the future"

Not sure if it was police or ministers but to me I instantly thought the stats must be bad.

This does not mention anything about accidents, simply more people driving to the speed limit.

What are the accident stats before and after ?

I've been up and down it quite a few times now, and if I'm honest I don't mind it too much. It adds 5 mins to the journey, which isn't really noticeable but traffic seems to flow better. I've yet to do it during the Friday night rush, though.

The A9 cameras drive me barmy. The A90 is quite a relaxing cruise in comparison.

At last someone who shares my view. No real difference from when the gatsos were in use, apart from the other traffic flowing better, which can only be a good thing

Just a shame now none of the current cars at home have cruise control now :blackeye but aim to rectify that later in the year :thumbsup

Yep. Cruise & AvScams is the demon combo.

Even works well on A9. For me at least.

However, if you stop at say McDs Forfar, you could have a spirited wap up the next section :blackeye

I have a GPS speed app which gives average speed, I have maybe been known to reset it at the camera.... amazing how a quick drop to say 55 because of a lorry overtaking makes to your average, and the speed you have to do to get the average back to 70. Allegedly.

Cruise control is the key. I hate driving in moderate traffic in average speed cameras without it.

Without it, I feel more paranoid and drive to the speedometer more than usual, which means I pay less attention to the road, which means I presume there are other drivers doing the same, and that worries me.
It's bad enough watching other drivers with a complete lack of foresight react when you are all doing different speeds, but when everyone is +/-1mph at best, I find it very frustrating.

Perhaps adaptive cruise makes this better though, I've never had / used it.

I've used adaptive cruise once on a Passat hire car I once had. I can see how it would be hugely frustrating, but think its forte would be with average speed camera'd roads.

Plain cruise is sufficient tho, and totally agree about the constant speedo monitoring which distracts from the other road hazards.

I quite like the average cameras on the A9, makes it’s a much more stress-free journey as opposed to the madness that used to ensue at every dualled section when everyone tries to overtake the slow movers.

GPS app with average speed function sounds perfect 👍🏼

The app is called "DigiHUD" as you can place your phone on the dash and it reflects on the windscreen....never felt the need to use that function (puts everything back to front for obvious reasons) :blackeye

The app works well tho :thumbsup
