From what I’ve seen of the local business gateway it’s a waste of time. Too many public servants working there who have never run a business. Image
Agree. In years gone by I was part of a panel who would judge new start businesses and award grants. The applicants all came through business gateway and had their business plans prepared with business gateway input. There were some really poor business plans put to us, and after a while you could spot which advisers had been involved, from the same mistakes appearing. I'm not talking about technical details - very basic stuff.

did you say lifestyle choice?

had a look at getting away from aberdeen a few years ago and just wanted to make "the getting by wage"

In-fact think it was around the time we were camping in Mallaig. they bought that site and house's for £800,000k

Still thinking about it, but not so easy now.

Cant believe the price of this. https://uk.businessesforsale.com/uk/fra ... -sale.aspx

It is incredible how many people involved in the 'economic development' industry have no business experience at all. the ability to write reports and talk p**h is the main requirement. Anything they need to decide involves a consultant charging a fortune.

But to get back to the original question, sometimes we are 'lifestyle' then we get a rush of blood to the head and go all 'scaleable' for a bit in order to buy more toys :D So I suppose it is lifestyle 8)

A £1.2m caravan site would be a lifestyle right enough, a bloody hard one I'd imagine. Mind you like Scotty I entertained the idea of 'the getting by wage' and thought about buying a marina..................
