By all means have an appreciating car or two in the garage, but that doesn't solve the problem of most households needing two practical mile-munchers as well. You still have a real-world car problem to solve, no matter how lucky you get with the collectables.
Of course, mainstream daily will be something which depreciates. Tis life.
My current household is an extremely oddball set up, partly down to two teenagers and the need for lowering hefty insurance premiums as much as is possible, and a wife's motor which I'm temporarily sharing.
All three of those are dropping, albeit not at a worrying rate. The remaining car is appreciating slowly but not at sufficient a rate to cover the maintenance costs (yet).
