I'm not a fan either. Touring every day!

It's like buying an X6 over an X5.

The answer is obvious. Waste everyone's time on this thread, get it to at least 15 pages and then either

a) ignore everyone's advice and buy the car you wanted to buy in the first place

b) Buy a volvo xc60 like everyone else ;)

Ps. 4 series GC is a good shout tho
i3s, Volvo and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Current fave is a £45k S4 all of a sudden...

That’s the problem when you ask for suggestions.. you end up somewhere you didn’t mean to go!!

Had a look at the S4 as thought that was also where we wanted to be, however the visual aspect of the RS4 won us over.

The S4 is very tuneable:

However I believe Chris Harris's transmission packed up eventually. Dont know whether it was due to the upgrade or a manufacturing fault (lots of gearbox issues on the forum if the oil change not followed religiously).

Also if you dont was the touring option gives you the possibility of the S5 (Coupe or Sportline) as well.

I think this one has moved from Edinburgh Audi to Glasgow, probably to give the impression of new stock

I'm currently running a brand spanking and rather handsome Volvo S90. All the bells, all the whistles. £160+vat on the contract hire. RFL inc.

Would I have ever bought a S90 with my own lump of capital ? Never. Do I feel smug as hell driving around in it for Corsa monthlies ? You betcha. Do I love it ? More than life itself.

Having spent the last 40 (almost) years of my life running some weird and wonderful machinery and paying for other peoples wear and tear and neglect, I am now a complete convert to the contract hire malarkey. I will never run a car any other way for as long as I draw breath.

The last 6 months repair costs (just repair costs) on my old XC90 > the *entire* cost of running my contract hired Golf R for 2 years.

No capital tied up, no bills, cheap as chips fixed cost motoring, treat the car as a peasant treats his donkey then hand it back (they even come and do this for you) and a nice shiny new one gets delivered. No car salesman to deal with, ever again. Freedom to go for something out of the ordinary and leftfield knowing you're not going to have to suffer trying to sell it. Freedom to go for something out of the ordinary and leftfield knowing that just as you get fed up with it, a nice man comes and takes it away. Freedom to go for something out of the ordinary and leftfield knowing that you're not going to get any silly unexpected repair and maintenande costs.

It really is one of lifes great hidden pleasures.

That sounds like an unbelievable price you've got there. Agreed, contract hire can be a fantastic choice if you're not too bothered about models or specs. Get your timing right and there are amazing deals to be had.
