Dog Protection

Post by douglasgdmw » Wed Mar 07, 2018 8:33 am

The RS4 has had its dog guard and load mat fitted yesterday so we are nearly there with rapid dog deployment duties.

Looking to fit some protection film to the car to protect the rear bumper from scratches with the dogs jumping in/out.

Any recommendations in the Edinburgh area and what film would be suggested (had Ventureshield on the Elise previously)

Thanks Ross but as our RS4 has the chrome windowsills, putting a black bumper protector would make the back end look a little bit naff and would always grate when I saw it.

Thoughts were to put a paint protection film onto the bumper so that Star/Skye's claws do not scratch the paint getting in/out.

I know that the film will look scratched after a while but can easily replace rather than a full rear bumper respray.

Fair point George - always thought these were quite neat but are admittedly a tad workmanlike, look good on a Volvo or Skoda or most mainstream stuff, but agree an RS4 needs more consideration :thumbsup

Something decent but more discreet like defendall should do the trick :cheers

Didn't realise you'd scored an RS4, George.

Much respect and jealousy here

Thanks.

Long discussion with Sandra on replacement vehicles as TT has served us well but wanted something with a bit more practicality.

Funny how things pan out but thoughts were Evoque. However after the Defender was in for warranty and 8 wks of an Evoque we quickly realised it was not for us.

Long story but considered new Golf R (too small with dogs), Focus RS (would plummet in value if used as daily driver) and BMW (but no petrol x drive option available) and ended up in an RS4 which ticks most boxes (except staying away from petrol stations).

Craig @ CMC has a guy who comes in to fit the paint protection film, I'm sure he would sort you out.

Scotty,

That looks fit for a Bentley rather than in a Audi.

I did think of a boot protector that comes out to protect the bumper. Although they are pretty at staying in the boot till I tell them, sods law its the one time that they don't and their claws scratch the paintwork.

Spoken to Mint Care Care, who CMC use, and it a smallish job to do so will arrange with them :)

Thanks but a little bit too extreme for them.

If its long distance they are likely to be in the back so that we carry the luggage in the boot.

We have an Orvis back seat protector with mesh so they can see through but hopefully can't jump into the front (yet to be proven however).

Dog guard/boot mat and bumper protector is for the short trip into town when the Defender gets left behind.

Might do similar for the Octavia. Kids rather than dogs going the scratching tho Image
