Posting for Burt on SELOC but he's not a member of Scottish Elise'S

He's also asking if someone was available to give it a look over for him ,I'm working double both days so can't see it in daylight
cheers Hamish

If the car is so mint and so easy to repair you wonder why it's not been fixed?

Sorry I don't recognise it........ but it does smell a bit dodgy!

It does look fairly clean and a genuine 40k miles. Presumably it's been sold off as salvage, and the person selling bought it as a trader. At that mileage and condition it might be worth a punt. But bear in mind the Cat N status will be with it forever and if future resale is important, this will have an impact. Although - this will lessen as the car ages and as Elise S1's become ever more rare. Eventually, Cat N cars might be worth similar to "normal" ones...but I guess that is 10-20 years off?

That clam might be repairable, but many experts might recommend a fresh one altogether. If Lotus can't supply, and almost certainly can't, then the boys at lotushardtops.com can almost certainly supply a pattern version which will do just fine.

Whatever, there is a good £2k of bodywork to sort and then you have the joy of keeping a 20 year old car on the road. Not trivial either.

Think carefully!

Campbell

PS - as a former S1 owner of a 120k mile car which was written off for both cosmetic and structural damage (so Cat S), I would definitely have had a closer look at that example with a view to buying it. Sadly my funds are now locked away so no dice. Plus it's the wrong colour for me :damnfunny

A quick check on Google Maps would say you are indeed correct. There's a 911 in the driveway. 114 Milton Road West if anyone wants to pop in and ask the guy.

I don't often look at the price of S1s, but.... is that a good price? £10k for a car that needs a front clam plus paint ?

You need £14k for a clean original with sensible mileage now.

At least, you did last time I checked ;-)

just an update...
I walked away from it...

Still on red koni's + could do with a suspension refresh and................

no paperwork whatsoever, no receipts, or service book, plus current owner has no idea when the Cam Belt was last done.
He also suggested that I contact the previous owner, but, he has no idea who they are!
