Spitfires over the Forth

Post by vet111s » Tue Apr 17, 2018 5:29 pm

Through in North Berwick this week and have seen a number of WW2 fighters flying overhead. Sometimes singly and sometimes in pairs. Sound amazing! 8)
Any idea what they’re up to?

Are you certain they are full size? There are a number of 3/4 (i think) replicas that live in Scotland. First good weather in a while so maybe boys playing with toys?

Mate hot a ride in a Mustang last year when it was up for the air show. Quite fast apparently. (but that was an England based a/c)

Could have possibly been replicas though they certainly sounded real including the lower rev and supercharger sound from what looked very much like a p51.
Have seen a similar collection at the goodwood revival (spitfire, hurricane, p51).

There's at least one at Perth. Memories from a previous meet - viewtopic.php?f=8&t=34187&p=410624&hili ... re#p410624

You might be right in the replica line. Another crossed today and was low enough to appreciate size (and volume). Sounded much like the original but fitted with a silencer!

There's 3 replicas at Perth these days and they are out and about fairly regularly. All with different camouflage schemes (there may be more, but I just can't see them) ;)
