Car Scrappies

Post by rossybee » Sat May 26, 2018 9:22 am

What's the latest deal with scrappies? Have a car which drives and is MOTd etc but easiest scrapped - if I can drive it to the scrappy, can I expect to get some money, and if so roughly how much?

:cheers

Phone around your local scrap yards, see what they offer you. You may need to take a wheel brace with you to remove the wheels and tyres (they don't want tyres) and take them away with you to get the best price,.
If you need to go even faster, just imagine you are me.

Last few times I looked at off loading at a car scrappy they were only interested if you gave them the car for nothing. I ended up getting an account at the scrap metal place and getting scrap value.

Bit of research would suggest approx £80/ton so £70 or so.

www.cartakeback.com offered to collect and pay £81 so likely to pursue that avenue :thumbsup
