Exige S2 Long Term Values?

Post by finlay » Sat Jun 02, 2018 9:51 pm

I know no one has a crystal ball but I Wonder whether people think they will eventually go the way the S1 has gone value wise or will they just stay relatively static?

The S2 while maybe not as raw as an S1 does have a more reliable motor and is a fair bit quicker in 240/260 guise especially!

Problem is that there is pressure from the v6 s3s now, they are 38-40k at the Lower end still good motors at that and a significant step up in performance, build quality and refinement. Don’t see S2 Exiges overtaking the v6s in the short-medium term but when they stop making v6s and good examples of the V6 start to climb then the S2 will follow. I think the S2 will overtake the V6 long term tho. But they are no S1 the S1 is something very special and I think will always hold a premium due to lack of numbers and huge desirability.

I’ve been watching S2 Exiges for a while, although never quite worked out to buy one, still my favourite! Prices have definitely been creeping up. There’s loads of S3s on the used market and more to come: plenty of supply. Whereas good S2s are only going to become more and more hard to come by. Pretty sure that if you bought a S2 now it’ll either hold or accumulate value; buy an S3 and it will depreciate.

Yes, I fancy an S3 but don't want to sell my S2 as I am very fond of it and think I will regret it..... dilemmas

I sold my Elise 2 years ago, and wanted an Exige at the time, but ended up in a Cayman S.
Although the Cayman is Fast and Comfortable, I am starting to look at getting an S2 Exige again.
Prices seem to vary from low 20's for an Exige to low 30's for an Exige S, just wonder if its worth paying the extra for an 'S'?

Will be selling my Cayman and my TVR Vixen which I have owned for 15 years, so want to make sure I make the right choice.

Exige S2 Long Term Values?

The S2 S has more useable torque thanks to the charger.

Although the higher bhp ones only achieve that when cold. I'm told the heatsoak on track knocks the output back a bit so maybe just get a 220, not a 260

But Clarky on here has a lovely NA version I think? Worth a chat.

Word is they're all brilliant cars.

And rumour has it their residuals are very strong now.

Was going to suggest a Roger Becker edition to keep the residuals strong however looks like they have gone up £10-15k from the last time I had a look:

27k miles and shade under £40k

3k miles and shade under £45k

Looks like they are increasing the same amount each year (approx £5k) as my Spyder does !!!

I think if you've got an S2 Exige exit - its way over valued currently.

S3 is a vastly better car, but standard car suspension is way to soft, and if you dont have an LSD (how could they possibly not fit one as standard!) its frustrating on some tracks. Road car wise - different league - and starting at high £30k's just way way better value for a vastly more sorted more capable car.

^ this!!! Basically why I changed. Market seems
To have peaked for anything other than pristine ultra low mileage S2 examples and I want to drive my car so I exited.
