Elise CUP 250 Goodwood review

Post by scott_e » Sun Jul 15, 2018 3:37 pm

Video from Aug 2016 but I hadn't spotted it before. A few references to S1 versus 250 CUP versus V6.

There is something about the Elise in CUP form that is more manageable than a V6 to me in terms of my inability to handle power and running costs too I guess. Just window shopping at the moment but a decision will be made at some point (last few months of the mortgage :D I can stop being sensible soon).

It would be a great car.

Even a cooking 220 S is a smashing proposition. I miss my S1. But the 220 is a worthy alternative.

A Cup 250 adds icing on the cake but also a few ££££....

Not long moved from a Cup 250 to a Exige Sport 350. The Cup 250 is really quick, great looking and far better on fuel. Never planned trips via petrol stations.Handling wise its easier to drive and very precise. Rear 048's didn't last long.

However for me as a mostly road car it lacked the sense of occasion and was in desperate need of a decent engine sound. Exhaust was changed on the later Cup 250's but not heard one in person.

There is a Elise Cup owners group on Facebook.

Enjoy your shopping.

I am hoping for a new Elise but it looks like the Elise might be dropped for an Exige/Evora replacement and a move (further) upmarket. Hope not or I have probably already bought my last new Lotus .......

Love my 220 Cup and with 2bular on the back it was dyno’ed at 240, so that’s an slightly cheaper option (and sounds good without being deafening!) That said, I’d love to have that trick open gear shift, which looks awesome. Mind you, I’d also like to be able to get in 1st reliably in any case... Either way, for mixed road and track I think they strike a good balance.
